Great link. Now it does not say anything about 2,500 points. Did it use to prior to 9/30/6?

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting the bonus could go up.
Let's say you add a cardholder now but you get no bonus. Then next year AMEX sends targetted offers again. The person you added is already a cardholder. Therefore you can't get a bonus for adding that person. In that sense there is "something to lose."

But, if the person is already a cardmember anyway, that might kill the deal anyway. Only AMEX would know that.

You're right. I suppose AMEX doesn't keep track of previous cardholders so there's nothing to lose. Sorry. This just reminded me of other cases where I became ineligible for something and couldn't fix it.

Mrs Extra has a SPG Amex (of course). Her 1 year anniversary came up, and we decided to not renew her card (she wasn't using it enough to justify, I use mine for most everything). 2 days later, I received the offer for 2500 points for 2nd card holder on my account. I was worried, but applied anyway for hers.
Received the points, everything is cool (at least until Amex reads this thread).
Incidentally, a question to Lurker - how could you have allowed Starwood to change the coloring of the card to such an awful color. I'm proud to use my silver card here in Austin, but I don't know if I can bear to carry a maroon one around with me - especially close to campus.

She hasn't yet called in to open the account--she's not as enamored with points as I am, except when we use them for vacations!--so I can't say for sure whether it all works out for the 2500 points.

The link has room for more than one additional card holder.
I wonder if I'd get points for co-signing for both my wife and for her sister (who lives with us)?
Here is the link to check on the status of one's application.
