Tuk Tuk speaks english and very accomodating..

Good Luck..
LM Khao Lak will charge you quite normal fees of a western hotel chain.

Nevertheless, high quality laundry for a cheap price is avaiable at "Rim Lay" Restaurant at the beach.
Go to the beach, head left and after 200m you'll find the beach restaurant.
Laundry is 25 Bath for a shirt (ca. EUR 0,50). Things will be ready within 24 hours. If you want the express service (until the evening) you have to pay +30% or something.

I can really recommend this restaurant/store!

Nevertheless, have a beautiful time at the LM Khao Lak

Just left the property a few days ago..

Rim Lay is CLOSED for the season and don't expect it to open till next October.

Laundry at the hotel is semi-reasonable for a hotel of this Category, for what I remember men's trousers were 135Bht++ and shorts 95bht++,Anyways this is a resort and how much laundry do you need besides t-shirts and bathing suits.
The hotel will supply you with laundry soap for free.

About outside stores outside the hotel for drinks and snacks, there is a small shop that sells drinks and beer and whatever else you fancy at very reasonable prices exit hotel head south less than 50 mtrs on the same side of the road. Also have a small place to eat that I can or cannot recommend.

Thanks for all the suggestions ^ and warning that the restaurant will be closed I guess I will have to try other places.

I am actually in the midst of trying to book a day tour to Surin or Similan islands only to find out that those tours do not operate in June due to weather (at least from the website) I am trying to book via phuket-travel.com. Has anyone booked through them? Any other recommendations? I could wait until I get to the hotel, but I won't arrive until 6PM and am planning on going on the tour the following morning. So, I probably won't be able to book after I get there.

It looks like Phi Phi islands tour is the only one that operates all year round. However, that seems to be really crowded. Any other ideas?

Thanks again

How about Sea Bees?

I used Sea Bees, their on-site dive center while at LM Khao Lak for trips to Similan. A very professional dive center which I highly recommend. I contacted them via their website and everything was set up seamlessly prior to my arrival.

Daytrips from Le Meridien

I am thinking about staying here in the Beachfront Pool Villa from July 3-7. The only thing that is holding us back is that we are concerned about the daytrips. We are not interested in the nightlife as we are traveling with teenagers.

Can you tell me your daytrips that you took and what month you stayed? I have heard that there is absolutely nothing to do in Khao Lak during July and tour companies don't serve people who stay in Khao Lak. Is a day trip to the Phi Phi islands possible? How long does it take and how much money does it cost to get a taxi the the Royal Phuket Marina? We are interested in scuba diving in Racha Yai one day and another day take a trip to Phang Nga(James Bond). Also, how is the selection and pricing of the tours that the hotel offers?

I'm sorry for the long post but would greatly appreciate if anyone can respond to any of these questions.

Le Meridien Khao Lak is not for people wanting to see & do things in Phuket. LMKL is for people who want to stay in & around the resort for the whole trip.

If is a boring, 1.5+ hour drive to Phuket airport, 30 minutes further down to Phuket town.

Oceanfront pool villa is one king bed, so unless your teenage kids like sharing the same bed, then that will be problematic.

Agree with Colin, Khao Lak is not the place to stay if you want to do all those things on seperate day trips. Stay on Phuket, do your sightseeing and then, if you want, head up the coast to the LM to relax afterwards.

Thank you for your reply. The oceanfront villa we were looking at has 2 twin bed and 1 single bed. The hotel looks really nice and we are going to have a tough decision now. Is there anything good to do around Khao Lak as far as sight seeing during this time?

Basically NO.If you want touristy stuff stay in Phuket, more convient.

The hotel has built a small zoo on the property with monkeys, birds rabbits and dear, etc.

Koh Lak town does offer some diving shops where you could arrange something, if that's your thing.

Khao Sok national park is close by. I am staying at this resort right now and am about to go on a Jungle Safari. Will report back.

Tomorrow, I'm going on a day tour to Phi Phi islands. So, you can definitely go out day tours if you want to, just add an extra hour for the transfer.

This resort is amazing. Service is superb and Platinum recognition is excellent. I was assigned a butler. Personal escort to Villa, checked in at the villa instead of lobby. Butler opened a bottle of champaign as I signed the paperwork. On the table, there was a fruit bowl, a chocolate tasting plate, and a fresh coconut (juice) with flowers. ^ ^ ^ He handed me a welcome letter signed by the assistant manager, a free drink voucher, my platinum folder, and offered to unpack my clothes. I declined, then he told me about the complimentary wake up call service with breakfast delivery. I took him up on his offer. This morning, I heard a knock at the time request with:

A pot of freshly brewed coffee
fresh guava juice
Bakery basket (toast, croissant, danish, bread)
local fruit preserves
eggs with sausage, bacon, and potatoes
large fruit plate

Amazing...I ate them all sitting on the beach just outside my villa.

I am sitting in my villa right now using complimentary internet.

Will do a full review later with pics.

Have you considered renting a car. The driving in Phuket is not like BKK. I would expect about THB2500 each way for taxi from Royal Phuket Marina to LM. You generally have to pay a round trip rate since the taxi is unlikely to be able to get return occupants.

Most scuba diving is limited this time of year due to weather. I have used ScubaCat. This time of year they have a boat anchored in a sheltered area of Racha Yai. They normally only do transfers from the Patong and areas south. Another reason for having a car.

How much does renting a car cost per day? And how long does it take to get from the hotel to Patong or wherever the boat leaves?

BlissWorld, because of your post, I have totally reconsidered staying here. Where did you book the Phi Phi trip? Through the hotel or on your own and did you leave from the Royal Phuket Marina or somewhere else? And what time did you have to leave the hotel to go on the tour? Thank you for the info
