What constitutes a "reservation change" such that one would be subject to the new categories / C&P rates? I have a C&P reservation for later this year that was booked at the old rates. If I ask SPG to change the credit card used on the reservation, does that force payment of the new C&P rates? What about requesting a comment be added to the reservation requesting a specific bed type and/or room preference. Would that cause payment of the new rates?

Wasn't Gritti already 7 in 2012? Or was it 7 in 2011, went down and now went up again? I remember it was 7 at some point... Oh, good old days when E&R was 5...

Yes, there is some variation at this point in time. It takes time for changes that were previously implemented to be rolled back in all areas. I would give it a day or two to be sorted out completely.

Hi William
Just to let you know that www.spg.com still has Le Meridien Chongqing listed as cat 3, but now the Cash & Points option has disappeared completely.

Hi William,
It seems Le Meridien Chongqing has Cash&Points available online again, but still at the cat 3 levels.
What is the final status for this property -- will it be staying at cat 2 or increasing to cat 3?

Maybe the frontend is not corrected yet but the backend is? Try booking via the online agent to see if it's Cat 2?

St Regis Shenzhen up 1 cat
Another one not on the list.
St Regis Shenzhen moving up to cat 6. Which I think is a little out of whack for this hotel. I can see the W in Hong Kong as a cat 6 but not the St Regis Shenzhen. Cash and points now cost a whopping 10,000 points + 180, for a hotel room which can be had at approx 330 USD/night ( including taxes ), up from 4800 points + 90 previously. This is a >100% devaluation.
Actually problem with the starwood devaluation is that it hits many of the mid cat 4 and 5 properties which I frequent.

Not only st.regs shenzhen, There is 1 more 'unknown' property getting up to cat 6.
I would love to know exactly what that property is.

Price Jump
a couple of my hotels went from Cat 5 to 6, which is fine, but the C&P jumped from $90 / 4,500 points to $180 / 10,000 points, and the rooms are still about $250, making it not such a great deal. i love the hotel and i think it probably is a Cat 6 (compared to others) but i am sad to see my amazing deal go away
