It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

Love it! Last year, I did 25 stays at Hyatt in January, so that I could qualify for Globalist this year. I then did 130 nights at SPG, which brought me to mid-Summer and 500 lifetime stays (I was worried that MR and SPG might merge shifting me out). I waited and waited for “Lifetime Platinum” to appear on my profile, but after two months I called and discovered I had only 9 years as a Platinum. Darn. So on Tuesday, I complete 25 nights and Platinum for Life. I started using SPG in 2007. I must have let Platinum accidentally lapse one year. I’m now anal retentively (or is it anal compulsively—a new project) tracking everything on Excel.

I wanted to qualify as SPG LTP as soon as possible since I was only missing 1 year of being Platinum. Having an SPG Amex meant I only needed 23 stays, so I planned all of my January travels carefully. After some daily hotel hopping and mulitple room booking for my family, I finally did it!

Now let's see if there's any recognition from future hotel stays. My Ambassador seems to be clueless about this milestone. I guess I got a non pro-active one.

Hmmm.....

For some reason, last year I showed 9 years as Plat and 773 nights. Now I show 786 nights and 10 years as plat (happened in Feb) with still one year to go. This year I have only at 11 stays. Thoughts?

My ambassador last year said I needed one more year.

Sometimes folks read the 10 years elite as being Platinum when it is really a combination of earning Platinum and Gold. Did you complete 10 stays or 25 nights by February? If so, then that 10 is probably referencing you having earned Gold again.

Thanks, William. I only have 9 stays until the stay yesterday posts, but the Amex mistake put me at 11 until the reversal. Perhaps, that is it. Thanks.

Thanks, very good to know. This changes my strategy over the next couple of years.

With the SPG program disappearing at the end of this year, and the new program unannounced, I wouldn't make any long-term strategy changes just yet.

Yeah, one can understand how the big wording saying you need 10 years Platinum and then next to it giving your current years Elite can on occasion confuse people...

All one needs to do is look at their dashboard https://www.spgpromos.com/dashboard/site/index and click on the Lifetime icon. It clearly shows how many more nights and how many more years of Platinum (for LTP) or Gold (for LTG) is needed.

Can you confirm that when you were sent the email to verify the mailing address, you did so?

If so, we can make an inquiry on your behalf if it has been more than 12 weeks.

As an aside.....I am a LTP and recently spoke to senior management about hotels and the Marriott SPG programs... City Hotels....Chicago, NY,Atlanta etc can have over 150 platinum's checking in on any given day......That rooms managers struggle to provide benefits to all...upgrades etc. I had never realized how many Platinum there are? I cannot say that my upgrades got better when I became LTP or even hit the Ambassador level....Apparently the room nights per year come into play as well in determining upgrades.....so even if you become LTP and then switch to another program your upgrade possibilities can lessen if you don't stay too much....That was interesting to me. Personally, I think Starwood needs another level above platinum Ambassador for those of us who do loyally stay 150+ nights per year.....Lumping all the plats together does not reward the top stayers or big spenders in the program. I also think the new program, Like the airlines will most probably look at spend as well....it appears all the programs are moving in this direction. Just my weekend thoughts. Travel Safe all!

I checked in at 2 different hotels recently and asked the front desk if they were able to see my Platinum Ambassador status or my LTP Status. Nope - could not. They only know a guest is a Platinum. I suppose they could find out if they wanted to, but just looking at the screens, they both said no.

I actually thought being a Lifetime Platinum and a Plat Amb mean better recognition, but so far in my case, I did not see any different treatment. Even in some of the higher end properties.
