That's what I get for not reading all 2K+ posts. Of the 10 reservations I currently hold not allowing SNAs (of 14 total), 4 of them allow SNA's when I click through to "See Details" (though an upgrade from a King room to a Jr. Suite with a double bed (Paris, with family) doesn't do much for me)

That make me wonder how many I missed on family vacations last year, when I wasted my final 3 SNAs on business trips.

Well, I certainly can't make you call in to get the SNA's attached, but if you had, you would have discovered that there are two room types supported by the process:

Mega Corner Room (classified as Fabulous, but positioning makes it a Premium room type)
WOW Suite

When I checked last Friday before posting, the Mega Corner Room could be attached, but the WOW Suites were already sold out. Not sure if that's still the case or not, however.

Serves me right trying to outguess the pro! Haha!
Thanks for the clarification.

I applied SNA to a reservation I made a few months ago. About 10 days before my stay I noticed that the property pre-upgraded me to one of the suites I selected. Was pretty surprised as the hotel was showing sold-out. Today, 5 days before my stay, the SNA tried to process but failed. I am guessing the SNA system doesn't check the currently assigned room to see if it is one of the SNA preferences you selected? While I am happy that it apparently will not use my SNA, I would actually prefer that it did so that I can be guaranteed the suite. Just worried that the hotel will reassign rooms prior to check-in and I will be back to a normal room. I don't want to bring the issue to the property's attention as I'm worried I was pre-upgraded in error... Is there any way for corporate to manually process the SNA on the backend so that I am guaranteed into the suite?

I gave the SNAs a fair chance but at this point they are useless to me. I tried using them over the last year on trips to Austin, Hawaii, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Chicago, Santa Monica, and Miami and they have never once been accepted. I get that it's based on availability but when I'm batting 0.000 on 7 attempts at very different properties across the country I lose faith completely in them.

Now I have 20 of these useless certificates...I would probably trade them all for 5000 Starpoints - really think they have proven to be worth less.

I am also very disappointed with snas. I tried twice for family stays in Hawaii exactly when I needed the upgrades. Both times suites were available for purchase within the 5 days period before my stay and both times they provided different excuses for why I'm not upgraded. Both times I canceled my reservations and rebooked with embassy suites and Hyatt, where I could guarantee a suite, even just 4 days before my stay. I know SNAs were an extra provided by the program but this lack of information and arbitrary upgrades just erodes the trust in the program.

Consider me bummed out, as well. Tried using SNAs for St Regis Monarch Beach. There were 7 Executive Suites left when the SNA 5-day window opened. Unfortunately, they claim that the only eligible Executive Suites are the ones with a garden view (not the "upgraded" resort view). Pretty lousy that the only rooms in the entire resort that are SNA-eligible are rare in quantity and have no view.

FYI, St Regis Monarch Beach turned down my SNA request as well (2 summers ago), but I was upgraded to a lovely suite at check-in anyhow

Now the exact room (garden view exec suite) is available with a non-prepaid rate, and the hotel still won't process the SNA. I guess I didn't understand the rules. Properties don't have to confirm the SNA unless they want to.

Except that the properties have no say in it whatsoever.

Then I really don't understand it. The Plat Concierge told me the upgrade system last checked on the 17th. She tried calling the hotel, and they said they would not be processing any upgrades even though it is available and I had SNAs. I tried emailing SPGchampion.

No, I don't think anyone does, really.

That's because they don't process SNA's manually. The system does it automatically.

I tried emailing SPGchampion.
I've said this before also...the only thing we can check is to be sure that the system is checking as it should. It appears to be doing so. But, I will add one thing...the one thing it isn't checking is what is available at spg.com because that is irrelevant, and why I recommend not using the web site to gauge why an SNA does not process.

Thanks for answering the questions. My only remaining question is why did the system last automatically check on the 17th? It confirms what others have said about only getting the SNA if it happens 5 days out, not otherwise. Shouldn't it regularly check?

Yes, on a daily basis...beginning five days before arrival, but it does not always record that it did or did not, so I would not put too much reliance on what the Platinum Concierge told you.

Yesterday I booked a room for tonight. My SNA cleared about an hour after my booking. So, the day before, not 5 days out.

Cheers,
