Cheers,
Still supports the theory. Most people book more than 5 days out, so the system checks on day 5. You booked less than 5 days out, so the system checked shortly after and upgraded you.

Again, this is a theory. I haven't read the thread in detail. I would be curious to know if this has been others' experience, as well.

I have certainly had rooms booked long in advance where at 5 days out I got a no upgrade - we're still working on it message and then at 2 or 3 days out got a message it cleared. So I don't think your theory holds or at least I have seen it work in a way counter to the theory.

This has happened to me too, and I've noticed that the system seems to check at the same time every day, exactly 24 hours after the first scheduled check, etc.

If you book or request SNAs within the five day window, I'm not sure whether there's an immediate check or whether it waits until the standard time, IIRC 2 pm local hotel time at the property.

When the program first rolled out, I'd get an email starting 5 days out at 2:00 p.m. hotel time either saying the SNA had cleared or that it was being worked on. If it didn't clear, I'd get an email each day until it cleared.

Recent experience has been that I get one email starting 5 days out and if it doesn't clear then, I don't hear anything else until I get the email that says that the SNAs are being re-deposited in my account.

It makes it feel like something is broken in the process, whether there is or not.

I have also only gotten one email on day 5. And SPG Concierge confidently stated the last time the system checked was on day 5. Maybe it is broken... now?

I find the entire system creating more ill will than good will. I don't know that I'm getting upgraded any more frequently than before honestly. So this whole charade where you can simply blame the computer system just upsets people. I don't see any problem with giving plats 10 total nights or maybe 2 stays with 5 nights each confirm able at booking if available and continually check until checkin. If not used then you get 500 points per unused SNA.

So anyway this is only the 100th time someone has proposed this but maybe it will do the trick.

Couldnt agree more the whoel thing is frustrating and creates ill will not good will! The system is a joke, the computer system excuse if annoying and as for 10 nights for a Plat seems unfair, if you stay 50 nights it is a 20% upgrade whereas say 100 nights its a 10% upgrade! Nothing like rewarding loyalty is there! That said they are so poorly executed that having more really wouldnt make that much difference!

Seems like an idea that could have worked but completly botched by spg and their IT department to me!

Remember, as stated many times, what shows on SPG.com does not match what is available for SNA upgrades even though the name match. No one seems to let that sink in.

I've just had an SNA clear for two nights (on points!) at the Grilli Palace.

Whilst I know that high categories are rarely the best use of points, my 1,250EUR a night room has just been upgraded to a 1,980EUR a night room.

SNA has turned out to be a pretty frustrating offer quite a lot of the time, but at times SPG can really come through.

I should find out tomorrow if two nights SNA at the St Regis Florence immediately after are going to clear...

Yep, so far I am 0 for 3 on suite nights clearing with one malfunctioning and getting charged even though I didn't get the upgrade. So frustrating as a 75+ night a year guest and makes me want to take my business elsewhere...

if a property has 2 suites & they both show for sale online & both are included in the sna pool they i guess its pretty safe to say that what shows on spg.com does match what is available for the sna upgrades....wouldn't you say so????

when my sna cleared earlier today, one of those suites disappeared from spg.com....why it didn't clear earlier is a mystery....

It clears when it does the daily sweep. If the 2 you saw online were booked before that sweep, your SNA would not have cleared. Your own example proves why you can't rely on what you see online.
