Not quite following; you booked a flight with points, and then changed it to another flight/date/time that was cheaper and you got points back? Or, you booked a flight with points, booked another flight with points that was cheaper, and then cancelled the original booking getting those points back? Either way, that how Southwest always works. Or, are we missing some details?
This doesn't make much sense to me as I have a dummy booking on 5/24 and 5/30 and I can't change either for free

I think the poster may have meant that he/she booked another booking at the end of april to move his/her dates to the end of may, and then cancelled the original booking.

My guess is flights booked for 5/24 and forward are not available to change yet.

I was able to change my April dummy flights to the dates I wanted and then cancel the same exact flights which were booked for more points so it's working as it has for flights within certain dates.
My guess is flights booked for 5/24 and forward are not available to change yet.

Looks like they closed it. I was able to do free changes this morning up until about 10:30 am EST. Hopefully it reopens again. Last month it stopped for a day or 2, turned back on and then off in a day or 2. Then it's a month long wait until about the 26th or so when they announce the bulk schedule changes
