Information about earning/transferring points to Southwest Airlines®: Points earned during a billing cycle will be automatically transferred to Southwest Airlines after the end of each billing cycle. Points expiration: The points transferred to your Rapid Rewards account won’t expire as long as your card account is open or you have flight-earning or Southwest Airlines partner-earning activity at least once every 24 months. If your card account is closed, the points in your Rapid Rewards account will expire if there isn’t flight-earning or Southwest Airlines partner-earning activity at least once every 24 months. Losing points: You’ll immediately lose all points that haven’t been transferred to Southwest Airlines if your card account status changes, or your card account is closed for program misuse, fraudulent activities, failure to pay, bankruptcy, or other reasons described in the terms of the Rewards Program Agreement.

Has your account cycled yet?

I made my first purchase about 2 weeks ago, but no CP yet. The annual fee on my account billed November 1. The points from my purchase have not credited yet.

My first statement was on October 25th which I paid in full and also got the annual fee billed on November 1st. Maybe it will kick in next cycle.

Anyone else receive CP already from this promotion?

My first statement was yesterday. During that cycle I hit the $1000 spend, however the final statement bill is around $800 as I made a few payments during the billing cycle. No CP or RR points credited yet.

Hopefully their system will recognize I reached the $1000 spend even though the statement was around $800.

I noticed my statement on my online Chase account 2 days and paid the bill yesterday, hoping once the bill was paid it would trigger the companion pass. The points posted to my Rapid Rewards Account as going towards a Companion Pass. No Companion Pass posted yet.

so that i am sure i understand, all you have to do is apply for the card and have it approved by 11/30/17 right? you don't have to execute your first purchase by that date also, or do you?

i'm trying to wait until as late as possible in the month to apply.

They will only issue CP to the people who were targeted via email from them. This comes from Southwest, so a whole bunch of people will be disappointed.

Already have CP for 2018, so ??

I am currently CP and have already hard earned one for 2018.

i don't have a RR card of any kind yet, as I've been doing my spending on a corporate AMEX (earning MR points) but with a new expense policy at work i can opt to spend on a personal CC instead.

1) If you already have a CP for 2018, does anyone know what happens with this offer? i'm guessing they don't give it to you for 2019?

2) If the CP is a waste for me since I already have it, should I go for the 40k points or just wait and see what offers are on the table next?

I do not think this offer is good for 2019.

If you are going to be flying WN enough next year to get the CP that way, best to get a different card. Good would be Chase Sapphire Reserve with 3 UR per dollar on travel.

If you have very many 4-night hotel stays, the Citi Prestige. 25% cash rebate.

Who are you hearing that from? Why would they advertise it on their home page if it had to be targeted? Doesn't say anything about having to check your email. You usually cannot even apply for something you weren't targeted for anyway.

Right at the top of the home page, even when not logged in, it says this:

"Hey Cali, take a shortcut to Companion Pass.
Fly one. Get one free*. For a year. (Seriously)
Earn Companion Pass after first
purchase with a new Rapid Rewards®
Credit Card account.
Offer ends 11/30/17-Act now!"

When you click on more info it says this (nothing about targeting):
"Please note, this offer is for California Residents only. If you apply through this offer and are not a California resident you will not receive Companion Pass. Not a California resident? Click here to view your offer."

I sure hope you are right, but I called twice SW and both times I was told that only people who got the email invite will get the CP. Chase people were also very confused. And so far I do not know of a single person to get the CP through this promotion. Sure hope they will honour it, as I have lots of trips planned for next year.

That's why you need FT. Confused CSRs are common on all issues. This promotion began as a targeted offer, so the CSRs' info would have been correct a month ago. It's not now. FT's info has a MUCH higher accuracy rate.

Exactly, the CSRs are never well trained on their promotions or informed when things change. I learned that last year when asking them questions during another promo. Each one gave a different answer.

Called Southwest - my first billing statement has also cycled and points posted to SW RR account. They said it is up to Chase to provide them with the data sweep of who made their first qualifying purchase. From that date, is it 4-6 weeks for the status to post. I made my first purchase 10/28.
