Companion Pass
This product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Rapid Rewards Credit Card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new cardmember bonus for a Rapid Rewards Credit Card within the last 24 months. Only the individual who received this email/offer from Southwest Airlines® is eligible for this promotion. Offer is nontransferable. To qualify for this offer, (a) Individual must have a valid California address as evidenced by their application for the Rapid Rewards® Credit Card, (b) Individual must open a Rapid Rewards® Credit Card by November 30, 2017 and (c) please allow up to eight weeks for Companion Pass to be fulfilled after making first purchase. Earning Points
Rewards Program Agreement: For more information about the Rapid Rewards® Plus card rewards program, view the latest Rewards Program Agreement. How you can earn points: You’ll earn points when you, or an authorized user, use a Rapid Rewards® Credit Card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. Buying products and services with your card, in most cases, will count as a purchase; however, the following types of transactions won’t count as a purchase and won’t earn points: balance transfers, cash advances and other cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. 2 points: You’ll earn 2 points for each $1 spent on purchases made directly with Southwest Airlines®, including flight, inflight, Southwest® gift card, and Southwest Vacations® package purchases, and at participating Rapid Rewards® hotel and rental car partners. 1 point:You’ll earn 1 point for each $1 spent on all other purchases. 1 point on balance transfers: You’ll earn 1 point for each $1 of the first $10,000 of balance transfers made during the first 90 days from your original account open date. 3,000 bonus points each account anniversary year: You’ll receive 3,000 bonus points each account anniversary year. “Account anniversary year” means the year beginning with your account open date through the anniversary of your account open date, and each 12 months after that. Information about earning/transferring points to Southwest Airlines®: Points earned during a billing cycle will be automatically transferred to Southwest Airlines after the end of each billing cycle. Points expiration: The points transferred to your Rapid Rewards account won’t expire as long as your card account is open or you have flight-earning or Southwest Airlines partner-earning activity at least once every 24 months. Called Southwest - my first billing statement has also cycled and points posted to SW RR account. They said it is up to Chase to provide them with the data sweep of who made their first qualifying purchase. From that date, is it 4-6 weeks for the status to post. I made my first purchase 10/28.

Lots of people think they can get 2 CPs, and I assume WN is trying to head that notion off.
Presumably, if you time the bonus on the new CC with the CA promo to hit on 1/1/18 or later, those points would count toward a CP for 18/19.
Virtually no chance that getting another CP now would extend your CP obtained through a Travel Package until 12/31/19. But WN seems to be laying it on thick these days, so I would never say never.

Companion pass posted!!
My statement closed on November 9th, points posted on November 13th and I just received an email a few minutes ago letting my know that my companion pass has been loaded to my account. Checked the website and I can now designate my companion!

Just received an email confirming that I will be getting my companion pass and my account has been updated to show that my companion pass is now good through 12/31/2018. I was not targeted and applied through a Facebook ad so this confirms that you do not have to be targeted. Just have to live in CA and apply through a link for the specific promotion.

One more. Went on the website, and it was reflected there -- entered my wife's info, and then got on the phone to cancel her from two upcoming trips (ticketed back in September) and re-add her to those trips on the Companion basis. (For those who had forgotten the nuance of this, as I had: non-refundable funds from these are not transferrable, but can be used for taxes-and-fees for the named passenger.)

How to Convert
So, what exactly is the process for converting 2 separately booked award tickets into one award ticket with the companion pass? We have 3 segments already booked for 2018. Is a phone call required, or can this be done on line? Do I cancel the 2nd ticket first, and then add the companion? Thanks for any advice!

Go into each individully and “add Companion”
Right away go individually to each of the old Award tickets booked for the new Companion and cancel. Request $5.60 Security Fee back as refund to credit card if allowed/applicable.
WN does not allow multiples of the same itineraries, but if you do it reasonably fast, it’s ok.
If flight(s) are sold out, call Customer Service for help.
