Thanks! Appreciated it for your efforts. I'm surely it will keep the finger crossed for which airlines will be introduction to joins into the Alliance.

I'm still rooting for PR (Philippine Airlines).

When precisely will TAROM join?

Has anyone heard any further or more precise information on when TAROM will join?
The Romanian airline, TAROM, is on track to join the SkyTeam alliance as an Associate airline in late 2009. SkyTeam signed an Alliance Associate Adherence Agreement (SAAAA) with the airline in May 2008 and is now making progress with its sponsor Air France towards joint IT commercial systems and FFP.

VN is a progressing airline in SE Asia and aiming large! Well ST did pick them above MH, GA, PR etc..... which shows that they are going to be a major player one day, At one stage I thought they were going to join OW with JL

OR!

AF pursuaded the other airlines to let VN join, CZ & KE also agreed
well I rather have VN join rather the likes of GA

I am not sure whether ST picked VN over MH. Especially don't think they did so thinking they (VN) would be a major player one day. Rather, perhaps, the opposite. There have been rumours that AF, especially, has been "vetoing" MH in some way, as a rival to SE Asia.

With regards to GA, they have recently signed an agreement with KE and I don't have trouble imagining them one day in ST, too.

Anyway, I always maintain, the more the merrier

Next best choice for South America Airline

With LA/LP in OW

JJ joining *A

I think the next choice that ST should quickly grab is TA.

Otherwise, ST will have a weak presence within South America.

TACA already said that they wanted to join Star, so unless something goes terribly wrong for them (like Copa and TACA falling out in the same alliance), TACA can go the way of SkyTeam, but you can never be too sure.

Avianca would be a good fit as well. SkyTeam is also said to be in talks with Gol/Varig.

This isn't out of the realms of possibility. Eyebrows were raised that these two fierce competitors made an announcement on the same day to join the same alliance. How that all works out will prove interesting if they do both end up joining.

Some may say special, but others may see these as airlines operating in regions where growth in air travel is forecast to increase the most as these regions develop...
