Hi,

the T&Cs state that the insurance is only valid for corporate rentals, because you could use the Card with the business package (95€) only for Business expenses.

This business/non-business distinction is enforced by VISA only: They require the card issuing banks to offer both a normal and a business version of their credit cards. Lufthansa and their insurance company are neither interested in the type of your expenses nor in the reasons for your car rental, therefore the insurance is valid for any rental. On demand they'll even send you a letter stating this.

Regards,
Stefan

Reserve a car here even quicker - at your rates.

Rates for Ameniti (United Airlines).
Country: Germany
Rate: INTER. STANDARD -30%
As an LH SEN / Sixt Platinum member you will get a 35% rebate. I believe if you get the Sixt Amex Gold card they will give you a 40% discount.
Personally I will stick with their 35% discount as my Amex Centurion has a CDW insurance coverage, which the Sixt Amex does not have. This is worth more than the 5% difference in rate. Sixt does incredible rates for weekends. As a Platinum member you can get a Mercedes E-Class for ca. EUR 69 per weekend. (Fri 12.00 - Mon 09.00)

Never give your Credit Card number to a Car Rental

Nor did I get a letter telling me that my Sixt Card has been issued.

It will be interesting to see what happens.
Have a look at that site:
http://www.sanirentals.com

I know many people who lost money with car rental.
With your credit card number thay can do everything!!!

I have a sixt platinum card, and get a supposed 35% discount.

but i always find it is much better to book with holiday cars section of the sixt website. they offer unlimited mileage and full insurance, so what on earth do i need the platinum card for?

the quotes i get from holiday cars are generally much cheaper, and include unlimited mileage and full insurance, when compared to the main sixt site after i put in my card number and surname.

so what advantages is there of holding a sixt platinum card?

Would someone please post or PM me the SIXT email address used to verify partner status? I just applied for the Gold card on their site using my Leader's Club number (from the email the Leader's Club sent) and didn't realize that my Hyatt Diamond would give me Plat. Hopefully I can email them before they process the gold membership.

Thank you.

Platinum also gives you a 20% discount on Sixt Holiday Cars rentals. The discount doesn't apply to promotional rates, but I just had a one-week rental in Portugal where the standard rate minus 20% was still lower that the promo rate they had at the time. (Also note that you can't get the discount online, but have to book by phone.)

Good question - they could easily give you a "promotion code" to enter into the online booking form. Maybe because of the abuse risk, but then again they could always check your platinum card when you pick up the car.
