Usually I refrain from looking up nonsense information but this time I did.

According to the German MB website, the smallest C-model (C180 Blue Efficiency) already does 208 km/h.
The next one up, the C200 already does 215/218 km/h (depending if manual or automatic) and then by engine they go higher up to 250 km/h.
If you want more then 250 km/h, you have to talk to the dealer and if an AMG model, they will set the electronic limit to whatever you wish (and the engine is capable of)

It's not nonsense, but it appears I made a mistake, as it appears it was actually the Australian MB website I was looking at, not the German website.

Link clearly shows CL 500 & CL 600 limited to 210!

Apologies for my error.

I once took an Audi A6 diesel avant to 280 kmph, could have gone faster, but at that speed it was dangerous enough and I slowed down to 250 to continue...

At this point in time, I doubt whether I would even go up to those speeds, as traffic has increased and more less than proficient drivers on the Autobahns...

C180 and C200 have a top speed of 208/215
but they are not limited to that speed. they simply cannot do more.
that is something else than saying all merc are limited to 210.

as far as I remember the G55AMG is maybe limited to 210. but thats all.

That's what I am saying... I only quoted you since you were the last you posted about that stuff.

Seems to be an Australian thing, maybe a law or something...

ok, then finally this is clear.

the audi A6 will probably show 285 and is still far away from real 250.
Audi is known for being a bit optimistic about their real speed shown in the dashboard :p

If Sixt came through and said they'll have the new 6-Series by July I think I'll be onto a winnder!

Hi Gary,

I booked a rental in Reykjavik Iceland for May end. The price was significantly cheaper than other rental agencies. Do you think the rental will be honored?

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for posting.

If you have been given a confirmed reservation then the booking would definitely be honoured. If you would like to send me your reservation number by email ([email protected]) and I will have a look at this to ensure it is a confirmed booking.

Thanks and best regards,
Gemma - Sixt UK Customer Service Team

Nice , France, Automatic Transmission

I just went to your web site and reserved a car in Nice , France , for early May. I did not see an Automatic transmission offered, however there was a box for " Automatic Preferred" .
I don't just prefer it I really need it. If I send you my reservation number , could you help out.
And if you feel like upgrading me to a nice small car , for my years of service to FlyerTalk, that's okay too. ;)

One other, less important thing , I checked the box for bonus points. selected airline partner , then added my FF # , but system would not accept it. I switched to selecting my Hotel partner ,system also would not accept number.

But what I am really interested is an Automatic Transmission, ..... and navigation, and a nice car.

I will be picking up the car in town, that location works well. Thank you

FDMR BMW 3-series

Hey guys,

I booked FDMR car category in Germany. Was anyone able to get their hands on the newest 3-series sedan yet (F30 body type)? :D I hope Sixt already has them in their fleet.

Germany Rental Going to Eastern Europe

Hello Sixt Staff,

Just wanted to say thanks for all the info, EXTREMELY helpful.

Sixt is by far my rental company of choice so as always I prefer to give Sixt my business.

I'll be arriving in Frankfurt, travelling to Hungary, Romania, Croatia and Italy before returning to FRA.

It seems that there is no class of car or possibility of renting through Sixt Germany and visiting each of my destinations. Just want to confirm that this is in fact the case and that it is not possible.

Thanks in advance for your help!! :D

Why not? Just tell them where you want to go and they give you some NON-German car they don't fear to be stolen ;)

Hi Gary

I'm looking at booking a car in the PTMR class for 7 days at the NCE airport office. But I cant see if the car comes with GPS? I would assume that a car in that class automatically comes with GPS?

Also, I know that as a M&M Senator member I should be able to get some discount at Sixt, but how do I get the discounted price?
I am supposed to get a 15% discount as a SAS Gold member, but the price with the SAS Gold code is actually more expensive then the public non-discounted Internet rate

Regards
