Good morning,

I'm using Sixt for the first time next month down in Florida. I was able to find a much better deal on the Sixt UK site for the identical rental as opposed to the USA site. Any issues going ahead with the rental from the UK site?

I've done this several times with no issues.

XFAR Sixt - LAS or LAX

Hello everyone,

I am going to rent a car this June for about 4 weeks either at the SIXT Location in Los Angeles or the one in Las Vegas.

Has anyone tried out both stations and can tell me something about the car pool they have? Are the German cars available or is it more likely to get "a similar" one?

I am especially interested in renting the category XFAR (MB GL, BMW X5, Cadillac Escalade). Anyone some experiences with that category? How well are the cars equipped? Are there differences between the cars in Las Vegas/Los Angeles?

Thanks,
Moritz

You already asked this in the Vegas thread. The same answer still applies. There should be no differences between locations unless they have run low on inventory. No specific car model is guaranteed either, but a request can be made.

Dear community,

My wife and i will make a long visit to LA, US in 3 weeks. We will be renting a SUV for 76 days. I have already reserved LFAR at LAX starting Feb 19th.

Since it's a long term rental i want to make everything sure before pick up. Where should i start, whom should i talk to? Also waiting any pm from Sixt representatives.

Thank you for the help.

If you are planning on driving beyond California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Nevada and Utah, I suggest that you make alternate plans.

Does Sixt at Miami allocate you a specific car or can you pick anyone from your category in the parking lot?

Thanks for your help.

SixtCustomerServices Feb 5, 2016 7:22 am

The vehicle will be allocated but you can also discuss your preferences, upgrade Options with the rental Agent. If you have a Preference for a particular vehicle within a Group you should mention this in the remarks of your booking. No guarantees but it does improve your chances of driving your preferred vehicle.

I hope this helps.

Gary

Volvo XC90

Are there any 2016 Volvo XC90s in your fleet in the US yet? Any at LAX?

It is assigned when you check-in at the counter. Are there any Sixt location that let you pick your own at the parking lot (a la National Car Rental)?

Hi, I'm planning a trip to Switzerland and I'd like to rent a car at Zurich airport. However, I've been living in London for a few years, and only recently got my full UK licence (Nov '15). But I also have my valid licence from Argentina since I was 18 (I'm 47 now).
I know the Zurich location has the restriction of 12 months-old licence, but would I be able to rent with my UK licence if I show my Argentinian one as well? Or with my Argentinian license by itself? They say non EU licenses can be used, but then they say something about passports and visas, and I'm still confused because I have both British and Argentinian passports.

thanks for your help.

Never used SixT before [I tended to use Dollar on cost in the past, and these days Avis/BA] and I'm slightly puzzled by pricing ...

Rental is for an SUV in PHX for 8 days in July. We usually go for "Ford Escape or similar" which, from a quick scrape around the www and various consolidators, comes out at a startling GBP40-50/day  ... recent rentals from IAD and SAV have been more like GBP24-28/day. OK, I know the exchange rate has shifted since last year, but not by that much!

I won't explore reasons why PHX should seem to be so expensive, but ... SixT is offering a house on wheels (aka Chevy Tahoe) at about GBP31/day. Why so significantly cheap in comparison to all the other PHX rental companies for that one? Would be grateful for a bit of insight.

Sixt is a new entrant to US market and is pricing lower than US companies to (I think) gain market share/brand recognition. At many airports, Sixt requires a shuttle ride as it is off the airport's rental center but this doesn't appear to be the case at PHX. Their cars are fine but in most classes, base model.
