Has Sixt quietly implemented new “limited” platinum status for those who obtained it through status match rather than qualified rentals but didn’t tell anyone about it or I was simply misled by Sixt agent at FRA location?
**Subject to availability, not valid for long-term rentals, special cars, motorcycles or trucks. The possibility of receiving an upgrade is only valid for up to 12 months from the issue date of the card. This advantage remains valid when you rent more than 10 times per 12 months with Sixt. Applies to residents of Belgium, Spain, France, UK, the Netherlands and the USA only. For residents of all other countries, 20 or more rentals apply. |

Sixt forced DCC charges at London Heathrow

Every time I rent in Germany from Sixt, I find out when I get home that they automatically hit me with DCC (3%) charges. At NO POINT at the counter was I presented with the option, and I certainly did NOT ask to be billed in USD. Can someone from Sixt please speak to this, and how to avoid it? I never have this problem with other rental companies.

Hi,
That's fine, If you require and assistance along the way you know where I am :) Renting at CDG in October, 4 adult travelers each with a (barely) legal carry-on bag, plus a couple of purses and maybe one school-size backpack. I'm looking at reserving either a Renault Megane or a VW Passat wagon; manual shift is fine. Will either/both of these cars be big enough for the four of us with the 4 carry-on bags? (I had a Volvo V70 a few years back and it worked out ok if that helps get a required size comparison) If not, what cars in the French fleet will handle our party? thanks, ST |

Not familiar with either car so couldn't be sure they weren't crossovers that don't have any rear cargo space. http://gtcarlot.com/data/Volkswagen/Passat/2002/1977392/Trunk-55141980.html But not by as much as a few years ago http://www.drivetravel.com/renault_leasing/megane_estate.html |

The agent is correct. Status match only gives you upgrades for the first 12 months. After the 12 months, the upgrade privilege has to be re-earn annually. This requirement has been in place for at least several years.

Does anyone knows which cars SIXT MIA actually have?
Would be nice if someone can post me a car list :) |

I had the same problem with Sixt at London Heathrow. When I got home from a four week rental in the UK they sent me an invoice stating that I chose to pay in USD. In fact, I did NOT choose to pay in USD. I was my intention and understanding that I would be paying in GBP. I CHOSE to have the currency conversion transacted by Mastercard. What does it take to avoid this scam?
I will be happy to take a look into this for you, please provide your rental details in a private message. Best regards, Emily |

I would recommend vehicle category 'CWMR', however if you wish for more of a roomy journey, any of the larger vehicles would be fine :) Any other questions, let us know. Best regards, Emily |

I only know about Cadillac Escalade in XFAR. Do you still need assistance with this one? If so, let us know and we will be happy to help :) Best regards, Emily |
