And, my car had FL plates, FWIW.

That's why I need clarification. The rep stated GA only.

I would probably trust the written rental agreement over the counter rep, who may not be bothered to remember the exact list of states and just hopes that most people are staying local.

Here is the exact language from my RA/receipt:

For Renters picking up a Vehicle at locations servicing an airport: If you do not have a return airline boarding pass or round trip airline itinerary, (a) You may not use the Vehicle outside the State of pick-up (as shown on the Face Page); and (b) You must provide proof of full coverage insurance. If you drive the Vehicle outside the State of pick-up, we will charge you a fee of USD 0.50 for each mile the Vehicle has been driven during your rental. If you have a return airline boarding pass or round trip airline itinerary, the conditions "For all other Renters" described below will apply.

For all other Renters: The Vehicle may not be used outside the States of Florida, Georgia and Alabama (the "Region"). If the Vehicle is operated outside the Region, we will charge you a fee of USD 0.50 for each mile the Vehicle has been driven during your rental.
Then there's a bunch of stuff about how they can still charge you for other things, and the governance over one-way rentals (basically, the above doesn't apply, but you can't leave the continental US, Ontario, or BC).

I was at ATL on Wednesday at around 9pm. Picked up a car. A woman that was from GA in front of me in line was told she could not take the car out of state at all.

I am not from GA, and they told me I could go out of state. I asked specifically about SC, as I often need to visit SC on business and fly into ATL. This time I was staying in GA. The agent told me SC is no problem and they "even have locations there." I should have checked my contract but in the past the "region" as defined in the contract did not include SC.

I would like clarification from Sixt on this issue as I will need to visit SC in 2 weeks and will be renting from the ATL location, so can I rent from Sixt, or am I going to National?

Upgrade Limit?

Would be great to hear Sixt's views on this, and apologies if it has been addressed elsewhere.

I am a Platinum customer and I arrived at MAN airport on Friday. I had reserved a FDAR (Merc C-class, as I usually do)
When I arrived and asked if I had received an upgrade I was told the system said I "was not eligible" as I had had too many upgrades recently.
I wasn't aware of any cap on the number of upgrades a Platinum member should receive?
I am often given an upgrade to an E-class so I can't complain about previous upgrades.
On top of that the C-class had lots of damage, didn't have sat nav (first rental in any class I've had that didn't have one) and stank of alcohol as soon as the fans started. Not my greatest rental experience so far!

I'd really like to hear about this upgrade limit - Sixt Customer Services - can you tell us more?

Hello,

I will be flying into Frankfurt Sept. 3, 2015 and renting a car for 24 days.

I interested in the CPMR class, specifically the BMW 1er or possibly the GTI/GTD.

Should I rent from the airport or take a taxi to the SIXT/BMW office for a better chance at making sure I get a BMW.

Thanks!

-Michael

Received a speeding ticket in France. Sixt charged me 19 Euro for some kind of "administration fee". As far as I am concerned, they haven't done anything to warrant the fee except send me an e-mail notifying me that I did, indeed, receive a ticket and that they would charge me the 19 Euro. They certainly didn't say they were going to help me pay it (never mind fight it), so I'm not exactly sure what the charge is for.

The BMW will have a higher chance of getting a BMW

They have a wiki showing what is currently in CPMR and know from experience which station might be better. PM me if you need help finding the right area to post your question ( you should have little problems getting an answer but if you do I can translate)

That is a normal administration charge for this kind of thing . Why would they help you fight it? Your ticket
Charge is for investigation who rented the car , proving the info to the police, informing you .... Extra efforts

some SIXT questions

hi, I'm heading to Europe for my honeymoon in September and we're looking to hire a nice car (BMW M3/M4 or something fast and convertible) for a bit of a tour - hoping to pick up in Berlin and drop-off in Munich.

I have a few questions as I find the sixt website very unhelpful and non-transparent:

1. what is the best location in Berlin to pick up a car and NOT get slugged with a 'premium location fee'? We will be staying in Berlin before so we can get anywhere we need to.

2. Same question for Munich - is there a best location for drop-off or does this not factor in to the price at the drop-off end.

3. I realise there will be a one-way fee, but can anyone tell me how this is calculated? Ie. If we drop-off in same country is it one price, but more expensive if we drop off in say France? (our intended destintion)

4. Can I drive this car through Czech republic? I have heard that there might be a restriction on Eastern Euro countries.

5. Is there anywhere you can find this info out for yourself??? Even a listing of the cars readily available at any given location would be helpful.

thanks for any help you can give!

You need to read the Rental Information: https://www.sixt.com/php/terms/view?...ef=offerconfig

You will need to avoid the airports and major trains staions, e.g. what I can see Berlin Ku-Damm/Zoo 24h and München Ostbahnhof 24h do not have premium location surcharge. You will need to play around a bit with different locations. Anyway, if you look for a real nice car I would avoid the small rental offices or train stations and rather pay the airport premium. They usually have a lot of nice vehicles while the off-airport locations might only have one or two of your booked class there and you will not be able to change e.g. from the Mercedes to the BMW - because there is just not a car available. Also avoid stations which are not real Sixt stations... You will need to do some research on your own for that.

Drop off in another EU country is significant more expensive than drop off in same country and you will need to call customer services to get a quote... see link I posted above.

You are not allowed to bring a premium car from Germany to Czech... see T&C linked above.

Some of your questions are answered in the link above :)

As with all car rental companies there is no list of available cars per station, just a category. I don't think it is possible to guarentee a specific vehicle in the class. So booking LSMR you might get a BMW 4er Coupé, Mercedes-Benz C Coupé or similar (whatever that means)

As a side note: Make sure to read the conditions before booking. Some Sixt cars do not come with unlimited mileage. So if you drive around a lot make sure to stay in the allowed limit or pay the 0,39c/km extra. Best is to get a car with unlimited mileage.

Sixt - Any Questions?

Hi,

M3 etc are normally only available at premium locations ( at least I the area u rent) and one way was not possible with these cars. Inside Germany one way is 20Euro but in another country much more > it will be shown online when you price the rental

Hence "never mind".

So, 19 Euro for responding to a phone call and writing one e-mail. Nice job if you can get it. Also, it's not exactly conspicuous in any agreements.
