I never have this problem with other rental companies.

Out of 12 rentals in the past two years in Germany, only my last one was DCCed. In fact the day prior to this rental, I rented from same location and same card and was not DCCed. Seems like when they close the contract, some rogue agent decide to select USD. Next time, I'm thinking of putting a note at pickup that they should select to bill in EUR.

Hi Mel,

Sorry to hear your recent rental experience wasn't a possitive one. We of course want to make sure that each and every one of your rentals with Sixt are stress free easy going. If you would like me to take a look at this please can you provide me with your reservation number? I would be more than happy to assist in any way that I can.

Best Regards

We have just returned from a trip to Avignon and are very unhappy with the experience we had with Sixt at the TGV station. I had booked online way back in February, declining CDW as usual since we have Amex Platinum.

When we arrived at the office, the agent told us that we were completely uninsured because we had declined all insurance and we would have to pay over £20,000 if anything happened to the BMW that they had upgraded us to.
We responded that we had Amex platinum which covered us and that we had rented numerous cars with absolutely no issues. But he told us that we didn’t understand what he was saying and that in the time since we had booked, their policy had changed and we would have NO insurance if we didn’t purchase theirs.

Not understanding that we would be negating our Amex cover, and being very worried that we would be in deep trouble if we had an accident, we went ahead and purchased their lowest level insurance (1200 euro excess!) for an additional 280 euros.

Once I had time to do some research I realised that he had been talking rubbish and that, not only would we not be covered by Amex if there was a problem, we would be another 1200 euros out of pocket!
I spent the next two weeks very stressed every time we got in the car….moral of the story – avoid Sixt Avignon. Or else make very sure that you are aware of what you have paid for and what you are covered for.

planning to rent a car from sixt in iceland. my trip's going to commence in about a month's time. seeing the willingness of sixt's customer service officers to help with the resolution of customers' problems here puts my mind at ease. Hope I'll have a good trip and will put up a review once I'm done :) cheers all! and kudos to the CS team!

Hi,

I was supposed to email a form to '[email protected]', after someone scratched my rental.
However the email does not exist? I get the following reply everytime:

The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable.
The reason for the problem:
5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550-'5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown'

Where do I send this form to?

03.-08. September I travel from Germany to SFO.

Is the Cadillac Escalade in category XFAR?
What about the availability of the Escalade at SFO airport?

This is my birthday road trip and for this the Escalade is my preferred car.

Is it possible to contact Sixt SFO airport to inform them about my desired car or discuss nice alternatives if Escalade is not available?

fassy Jul 27, 2015 11:19 am

https://www.sixt.com/car-rental/usa/...ncisco-airport -> Contact

Make sure you are aware that this Sixt location if offsite the regular car pak/rental garage in SFO. In SFO I would prefer Hertz or Avis actually... just sooo much easier.

First post! Planning on renting a car in either Konstanz or Freidrichschafen with Sixt in August, are there extra fee's if I take the car outside Germany, hope to travel to Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Czech Republic and maybe Switzerland. Any help on what extra's to get would be appreciated. Thanks.

fassy Jul 28, 2015 1:47 am

No extra fees but you are not allowed to take some "Premium" cars to central eastern European countries: https://www.sixt.com/php/terms/view?...ef=offerconfig -> Cross Border Rentals & Territorial Restrictions

Make sure to check the conditions and rent a car which is allowed to be taken to that countries.

Also take a note that some countries like Austria and Switzerland have highway toll and you will need to put a sticker in the window of the car. Make sure to ask if this is okay since they are very hard to remove. Sometimes they will have cars which already have paid the yearly highway toll and have the sticker.

Hi,

It's the breakdown of claim charges/invoice. (I wrote my credit card number and a signature in it) I've sent it to [email protected] as it was the only mail I could find and you requested payment by today, I hope that is sufficient.

"Limited" Platinum Status ?

I just returned from a 2 weeks trip to Europe where we rented a car from FRA airport location. I have had Sixt platinum through status match for over 3 years now and I was upgraded every time I rented prior to this trip.

I booked IDAR class and also listed diesel as a preference. When I came to the platinum counter at FRA I was told that I would get MB B class (gas) but they could upgrade me to Audi A4 (diesel) for additional 10 EUR per day. I said that I thought as platinum elite they could upgrade me complimentary. The agent then looked at her computer and told me that my status does not include complimentary upgrade since I haven’t had 12 rentals within last year. She explained that I have platinum status without upgrade privileges. This was the first time I heard about such “limited” platinum status. I tried to argue that my status online and on mobile Sixt app says platinum and does not list any limitations but the agent insisted that I have no upgrade privileges and would have to pay in order to get upgraded. For a while the agent tried to persuade me paying for upgrade but I politely declined her offer and went with gas MB B class.

Has Sixt quietly implemented new “limited” platinum status for those who obtained it through status match rather than qualified rentals but didn’t tell anyone about it or I was simply misled by Sixt agent at FRA location?

The other interesting thing is that they charged me additional 18 EUR for refueling. I returned the car with tank indicator arrow pointed to “Full” (I made a photo as a proof). I refueled the car about 30 km prior to the airport because low fuel indicator was already on and I was afraid I was not going to make it. Prior to the airport I checked and the indicator was still on Full reading. The employee at the drop off location did not say anything about a need for refuel. Even assuming that they had to top it off later it’s still ridiculous that it would cost 18 EUR for 30 km.
