I'm Sixt Plat from my Citi Prestige card. Rented in MIA no problem and was offered an upgrade though I declined as I booked a convertible and wanted one.

This past weekend I rented from SFO. I was told that despite being Sixt Plat I wasn't eligible for an upgrade?

That doesn't sound right to me. I rented a PCAR class and (naturally) the Mercedes and BMW options were all out, only had a Volvo S70. I asked about any other cars and got a Merc GLA, initially for "only $20 more." Good thing I asked because it was $20 per day. I got it down to $10/day but still, not a good experience at all.

Thoughts? Am I missing something here?

How big is the credit card hold that Sixt puts on the card when it's rented? I know that for premium vehicles it can be up to 3x the rental, but what about for more modest classes (ICAR and FCAR)?

I've got booking numbers for two rentals on my upcoming trip to Europe. However, I'm not seeing my bookings on the website (I am logged in.) I left it for several days and checked again in case it was a data entry issue, but my bookings are still not showing up.
Although I have the confirmation numbers, this still makes me nervous.
Also, I contacted Sixt through their website a week ago, and have not had a reply.
That also makes me nervous.
Hoping a Sixt rep is monitoring this board and that someone...anyone...gets back to me to confirm that my bookings are locked in.

It has been mentioned often in this forum that Platinum status by itself doesn't get you very much, including upgrades, unless you have a minimum of 10 rentals/year.

I have a booking next may, for a 9-day rental at AGP (Malaga Airport).
Booked ITMR (convertible) : Audi A3 or BMW 2 or VW Beetle or similar Premium convertibles.

What car am I bound to actually get ? Past the fact tha a Beetle is not similar to an A3 or a 2 series, I am worried to the stretch they may apply to similar. In other categories, they consider a Volvo is similar to a Merc or a Beamer ...

Anyon any idea of the fleet available for ITMR ?

Thanks for your help.

They bamboozle you. I always have to check the printout for the same reason. DFW was notoriously bad but has gotten better. You simply need to put your foot down (pun intended) and not leave until you're in the car you want at the price agreed upon, or have newly agreed to.

Are the Escalades in the XFAR class standard or long wheelbase (ESV)?

After an hour or so of price-checking, it's clear I'll be renting my SUV from Sixt at PHX in July. My usual Avis/BA rental was coming up at £529 ... Sixt is £287. :D

Now a Sixt Gold member, status-matched to my HHonors Gold. :D
Only problem was trying to get the website to accept that I live in a country called Jersey, even though it's on their drop-down list!

Re-reading all the various comments now ...

Will be renting a Mercedes C class or similar at FLL. Will it come with GPS? When I've rented from Sixt in Germany a Mercedes C class or BMW 3 series will always have GPS included. I called the FLL Sixt office and the girl who answered said it would come with GPS if it's a new car and still has GPS covered under the trial period. I'm pretty sure she confused GPS with Satellite radio.

Sixt US fleet is base model. If base model does not have Navi from the factory, I wouldn't count on it.

In generell a deposit of minimum of $100 but up to three times the hire price is charged to the chosen means of payment as a security. For Debit Cards a deposit of $250 plus the cost of the rental will be taken as a deposit from the Debit Card. The exact deposit for high value vehicles is determined on collection as the amount depends on the type of vehicle driven. These funds will not be available to you during the rental.

Hi Sixt or anyone else that knows the answer.

I am looking to get a one way car rental from Basel Train Station to Nice Train Station.

According to Google Maps this takes me on toll roads in Switzerland, Italy and France. According to extra Googling. Not very expensive to pay for the tolls in France and Italy but in Switzerland I understand one needs an annual vignette.

I can see no option on the Sixt site for including rentals or anything or whether your cars already have the vignette. So how is this handled for your rentals?

Why not take the train to the Basel Euro airport? from there no need to go through Switzerland or Italy, you can go through France via Besancon, Lyon and Marseilles, it's only an extra hour on the journey.
Plus, rental prices in France are usually cheaper than in Switzerland, especially for a one-way trip :)
Or if you've already booked, take the road from the train station to Saint-Louis, and there use the French roads, no Vignette issues.

But generally speaking AFAIK, no vignette was put on the rentals I had in Switzerland

Hello,

I'm a platinum and I have a pay later reservation (MIA - MCO one way) I made months ago, but I now realise I booked it starting 07:30 PM when it should have been 07:30 AM. That means I will have to change my reservation to include 1 day extra.

As months have passed, when I recalculated a new booking, the total fare increased 100 dollars just by increasing this 1 day (total 12 days). Does anyone have any idea of how I may proceed? Maybe a 1 day reservation to amend with the old reservation?
