SIXT - Upgrades

I have a question regarding Sixt upgrades. I am a Sixt Platinum member which I received through my World Elite Mastercard. However, I already met the Platinum card requirements based on the number of rentals I have placed with Sixt. In addition, I sometimes book through my corporate code as well.
I would say that for around 90% of my rentals I get a free upgrade but I'm wondering why in some cases I don't. For example, today I was asked if I wanted to upgrade but at a cost. Initially they quoted me at around $150 to $200 extra a day but then they brought it down to $20 a day.
Is it mostly an availability thing?

Arbitrary, it seems. Airports are the worst offenders - Im sure stations and/or agents have an upgrade quota to hit because as a Diamond I get them too.

I was initially in a relatively new e-class however the odor was unbearable. They swapped me into an X6 that was somewhat better but still a bit funky.

Reserved: ECAR (Sixt+ long term) Polo etc
Got: ECAR Citroen C2
I didn't realise the UK fleet was so bad, but if anyone is considering an ECAR run around, be prepared for poorly maintained, old (23 reg) and sad looking C2 Aircross.
When getting this from SOU I thought it might be due to availability/location, and this being a long term/subscription rental.
Then had to defleet on their request, did so at LHR T5, and they gave me a C2 that was somehow even more worn out.

The Q7 was new and the car was conveniently waiting for us just outside the Arrival hall at the dedicated Diamond parking lot. In general I get good upgrades in STR combined with great service!

Booked: Lucid Air
Received: Porsche Macan EV
Did a one way rental MUC-FRA. Got an MG4. Booked a Lucid Air at FRA. Arrived around 3pm next day and nothing was available Lucid wise until around 10pm. Some back and fourth resulted in me getting a Macan EV for the same price. Sadly no Taycan left either.

Got: SWAR Skoda Superb at 6eur/day
Was offered a Peugeot 408 SUV for free, but despite the interesting design I thought the Superb would've been better equipped (and have 150hp vs 120 or something).
Skoda was ok, but ACC was an extra purchase and the LKA was way too aggressive

Reservation- bmw 5 series
upgrade - none
You can only pay for upgrades here
Also no platinum bag given. Had better service and acknowledgement in Philadelphia
Also the car was not filled all the way up with gas. I told the attendant.

Hi,
I am looking for advice on what to expect to pay for an upgrade.
I have a RFAR (GMC Acadia 7 seats) booked from MCO in July for 29 days. What would i expect to pay for an upgrade to a FFAR or ZFAR per day?
I need to have the 7 seats.
Thanks

Some recent experiences:
Location: STR
Status: Diamond
Reserved: Audi A6 Avant 6-cil.
Received: Audi Q8 TDI (could also take a Volvo XC90 petrol)

Location: STR (a few weeks later)
Status: Diamond
Reserved: Audi Q5
Received: Audi Q8 TDI (could also have an S6 Avant at no extra costs)
In general the Diamond treatment at STR airport is very good. They treat me very well.
And the Diamond cars are always parked just outside the terminal so need to walk to the regular Sixt Parking.
Next week I am renting for 12 days in AGP, let's see what they give me there.

For what it's worth, as a Platinum at first and now Diamond of a few years with a hundred+ rentals, Ive never seen or heard about anything this.
