Location: MIA Booked: FCAR Received: PTAR - MB SLK250 Seem MIA/FLL agents don't normally look at status until you remind them. This is the third time where agent was going to assign booked class until I inquire about the 2-class upgrade. PTAR is several classes up from FCAR. |

Well, while ill take it as an 'upgrade' im more annoyed that given a full lot of bigger better cars, and my rental was only for 8 hours, that they didnt upgrade me until i complained. Posted the full story in another thread but upon arrival was given the volvo (as a plat, no mention of any upgrade), when i asked why i wasnt given a CLA the woman informed me they dont have them. Told her how much i dislike the misleading advertising and hate driving the volvos, she reluctantly said she could get me into a 3 series. If i hadnt complained that would have been NO upgrades for a plat given a full lot of Audi A4/A6/A8s, BMW 3/5 series, multiple nicer SUVS, and Benz E classes. Given that i was picking up at 11AM on a tuesday and returning that night, not exactly a peak time, trying to not upgrade was more irritating then anything else to me

No upgrade for Plat until you ask seems to be standard operating procedure in MIA and FLL as well.

Misleading? You reserve a car class not a specific car.

Well in that the image on the website, in the entire booking process, is of a CLA. I get class of cars but why is the 'poster car' for that class a car you dont even carry? Thats like showing a Benz S class as the photo but giving a hyundai equus as its 'similar' to them.

Hi all, i am totally new to car rental programs and am in dire need of some help. My family of 4 adults and 1 toddler will be traveling to Paris, Athens, UAE and Turkey next month. As you can imagine, that is quite a bit of luggage and a stroller. I do have Sixt platinum from FF match from another chain that I have status. I believe that I would just be able to choose any vehicle from a certain parking lot rather than what I booked? I am wondering if someone can confirm this and also help me out by telling me what car class I would need to rent to maybe take advantage of this and score a free upgrade to an SUV/minivan?

Status: Diamond
Location: LAS Booked: ICAR Received: LCAR (BWM 3 series) Originally was offered a Volvo S60 but it had a bunch of warning lights on so I returned it immediately. Was then offered another S60 but told there would be a 15 minute wait, as I had already waited 15 minutes for the first car they gave me a 3 series off of the lot, it was a super high mileage 3 series (over 25k miles on it) but worked well enough for the 3 days. Also seems you have to remind them you are Diamond or they won't give you any upgrades, but the whole time they were very friendly. |

Location: TLS Airport Booked: BMW 3 series saloon manual (FDMR) Received: BMW 4 series M Sport Grancoupe Auto with NAV, HUD, Panoramic Roof and lots of other toys. A lovely spotless car and yet another great rental from the Sixt team at TLS. See you again in January! |
My 2 recent rentals in Europe:
Status: DIA Station: VCE Booked: the smallest with NAV (Reanult Megane) requested Diesel Received: Alfa Romeo Giulietta The guy at the counter said it was an upgrade form the originally booked class. It was an okay car, no complaints. Station: FRA Booked: C class T model (FWMR) Received: BMW 535XdT (LWAR ? ) Again very nice car, great foir the Autobahn. Again with "Standheizung" which is really nice in the winter. Lots of other nice features like the B&O sound system, but sadly no HUD. 240 km/h winter tyres meant that i could play on the left lane as well. |
Status: Platinum
Location: MIA Booked: FCAR Received: PCAR - BMW 2er Was also offered a 3er. An A4 was a $35/day upgrade. An A8 was $45/day. |
