from BMW 1 to Insignia (+1).

Rental location in Paris?

I have been Sixt Platinum for a couple of years, but will be renting from them for the first time in July. Most convenient for me would be to rent from Sixt at Vendome Opera and return to CDG, but I'd be willing to start my weeklong rental elsewhere for better upgrade opportunities.

Suggestions?

I picked my Sixt rental at Vendome Opera last month. They have limited parking space in their garage and very few car on hand. I was offered an upgrade to a diesel automatic from a gasoline standard shift vehicle in the same size category for a minimal amount (€4 a day) which I accepted. I most likely saved a lot more than that on the cost of fuel.

I was extremely satisfied with the brand new BMW 3 series GT M Sport, with all the conceivable options, that I drove. The price was about a third less than that quoted by Europcar.

Any recent experiences or advice in FRA? They have a ridiculous selection online, just wondering what I should book for a nice upgrade (I can't even tell what category trumps which because there are so many...). I'd like an M, an AMG, an SLK or something "fun" to drive. I'm a Diamond.

Booked IFAR (RAV4 etc) for my wife as it was cheaper than ECAR or CCAR in Phoenix for 10 days

No status and she gets an upgrade to an BMW X3 2.8 :)

MUC.

Booked CPMR (BMW 1er).
Received Jaguar F-Type convertible.

Did I mention I love Sixt? :)

I had reserved SDMR (Mercedes-Benz Classe B, BMW X1 sDrive, Peugeot 508) and received a BMW X1 xDrive25d automatic with 20K km. The car was not pristine; it had a dozen or so minor dings but perhaps this is expected for a city car. I was pleased with its performance, mileage, and comfort. Perfect for our family of 3 and just large enough to accommodate our luggage.

Picked up the rental at Vendome Opera. Even though there was only one person ahead of us, it took 45 minutes to get the car and despite it being a pleasant day in Paris, the temperature in the Sixt office was ridiculously high and uncomfortable. The staff was not unfriendly, just inefficient. Overall, an unpleasant experience.

In contrast, dropping the car off at CDG was smooth and quick.

My reserved class was FDMR (BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 or Mercedes-Benz C-Class). I upgraded to a diesel FDAR, a brand spanking new BMW 318d GT M Sport, for €4 a day. I saved more than that on the cost of fuel, since I drove just under 4,000 KM in thirteen days. The car averaged approximately 4 liters per 100 KM during that rental.

Latest couple of rentals in Germany:

Osnabrück
Sixt Platinum Card

Booked: CLMR, Astra / Focus / Golf or similar, requested diesel if possible.
Received: FDAR BMW 320xi with M Sport-packet, leather, auto and BMW Professional navigation. Oh, and an electrically-retractable tow-bar. Strange one that!

Fantastic car!

Osnabrück
Sixt Platinum Card

Booked: FDMR, Audi A4 / BMW 3 Series, requested diesel if possible.
Received: FWMR Audi A4 Avant TDI with Quattro and nav. Nice car, brilliant for motorway trips.

Reserved XCAR (MB E-series) and got LFAR (MB GLK SUV), they claimed it was an upgrade, but I still question whether it was. Did not have time to argue as I had several hours of drive to go after all day flying, but car felt cheap.

XCAR to XFAR I would understand... But.......

GLK is a downgrade from an E-class. Which location? What status are you?
