Was given the standard free upgrade to a BMW 3 Series auto with NAV at Malaga Station and there was nothing else interesting at the car park. As I then had to drive to Malaga Airport I decided to drop in at the Sixt branch there and see what they had. Was offered a brand new fully loaded 730D for a very small additional supplement. Great car and lovely staff at both branches.

I needed to transport multiple passengers and pieces of luggage, so ended up stopping by the station a couple days in advance and asking that such a note be put on my reservation. The staff at the location were very nice and professional and seemed to have a number of cars available. They offered a choice of the Pug or an Opel Zafira. Chose the former (when in Rome...err, France), but kind of regretting it now and in any event I don't need such a big car anymore, so I'm going to swing by Tours tomorrow to see if I can downsize.

Was proactively offered an upsell to a Hyundai SUV i think it was for $10, asked about getting the upgrade to the BMW like I got last week and was told it would be $20. When i pushed as to why I got it as an upgrade last week when there was 1 BMW/MB on the lot, and this week when there were 4 BMWs and 2 MBs...it cost $20, the woman told me that was a one time plat thing. So i guess we only get upgrades once now. Kinda POed lot full of cars and not even a single upgrade.

Received: Volvo V60 (WCAR? not sure - it's not in the Vehicles guide but was its own separate category in the location's book) but insisted on PCAR (Merc CLA250), which appeared to be one class down from the wagon.

Reps at the location initially offered the Volvo, but, when I refused, asking for one of the three CLAs on the lot, first denied having a single one (ooookay, pretty sure I wasn't hallucinating), then said that I should already be grateful because they were giving me an upgrade beyond what was customary (pointed out that I was happy to take it down a notch), then said the CLA I wanted wasn't clean, but finally relented. Not sure why it turned into a twenty-minute ordeal, but I was pretty happy with the Merc:).

I'm debating between Sixt and Hertz. I have Platinum status with Sixt. If I book an IDMR - BMW 1 Series to pick up at MAD, what would I likely receive?

Also, I need to add a day to the end of the reservation, but it increases the price by 200+ Euros - the phone agent suggested informing the check in person that I'd like to keep the car an extra day. Is that ok?

There was a bowlful of BMW keys, but none for me. When I asked about an upgrade, I was offered a 3 Series for $20 / day. Could be worse, but I declined.

Very disappointed with the 2014 Honda Civic with 34K I was given. It had a shudder that started at 30 MPH and wouldn't quit. Had it been more convenient, I would have returned this car and requested a replacement.

For such a huge car it actually moved pretty quickly with the 3.6l V6 engine. Pretty satisfied with the upgrade except they couldn't get the satellite radio to work (compensated with an extra -10% off the total).
