OK I could NOT resist, iam booked on the 28th for SIN-SYD, arrive into SIN on the morning of the 25th to watch the First A380 Inaugural flight take off, then will enjoy my trip on the BEAST on the 28th Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah.
A380 back on Nov 4th.
I tried to book a fare with a stop over on SQ website, but kept coming up with only 747 flights and one A380 sector, so bit the bullet and booked two seperate flights.

I am ticketed to travel a week later on SQ 221 in F.

I have to admit that I'm a little bit underwhelmed by the seatmap. It really doesn't look like the experience for most passengers will be significantly different for most passengers than it is today on a 747, 777, or other large aircraft. I know Airbus was probably exaggerating a bit with their original descriptions (as I recall - lounges, spas, shops, casinos, etc.), but I expected something in the way of "public spaces". I'm not sure I'd really want to fly this aircraft (well, perhaps I would in F, but more because it's F rather than it being on an A380).

I'd like to know if anyone has successfully managed to get their F flights changed to R. Knowing SQ, it seems highly doubtful.
But mind you, anyone who books 2 R class returns from SIN will automatically qualify for PPS under the new rules!
Anyone who are booked in A class might just be moved to another flight...!

SQ changed mine automatically. Yesterday SQ 221 was in F. This morning in R.

Come to think of it.. with this HUGE surcharge in fares, do you think SQ would give limousine transfers in Singapore and Sydney? Would the inflight catering be above and beyond Book the Cook? Would you be seperated and segregated from the other 'normal' F class passengers since you're paying a premium over others....
Wait a minute? doesn't this all sound like SQ wants to charge Concorde like fares but yet doesn't want to give you Concorde like treatment? Ok... Concorde passengers didn't get free limousine transfers either, but at least there was some exclusivity tied with this...

They may charge Concorde like fares but again the A380 will never fly you at Mach2+ for the duration of your fight like Concorde across the Atlantic.
Time is precious. Also, people still say to me, "Oh, the Concorde [remember most Americans say that] was small, wasn't it cramped?" To which I say, "Who needs fold-flat beds and such on a flight of under four hours?
Sacralige the Whale Jet is using Concordes class sign R or Rocket Class while nothing about the Whale can be described as a Rocket!
Apart from looking like a Discarded Shuttle external Tank with wings and Engines fitted!

As for the A380, I'm underwhelmed by the published seat maps, but I still suspect that SQ might have something up their sleeves. For one, the amount of galley space on the published seat maps just seems to small. For another, there does not appear to be any crew rest spaces identified (or even any unidentified spaces for crew rest). While 3-4-3 doesn't captivate me, perhaps there are some "hidden" attributes that we don't know about yet

Do bear in mind that SQ has a horrible habit of scrutinizing tickets at check in , especially in Singapore. They might check to see if the proper fare has been paid and that you *might* be asked to pay the fare diff.
I am not saying that they will do this especially since its their flagship flight.. however based on past and from what I have heard, SQ has refused flight to people who hold below-the-actual-value tickets and even tickets that were issued before there was a fare increase (these were coach tickets), and were asking passengers to pay the difference there and then or else they can always just "get a refund from where they bought their tickets from "!
But good for you that your tickets have been issued...! Do give us a very detailed trip report... and do take the time and have a wander round the back to see how economy class is!

I have a First Class Star Alliance Circle Pacific booked but not yet ticketed. According to my TA, my SIN-SYD booking on SQ221 was changed from A to R class by SQ; but when she checked with SQ, she was told Suite Class was not available to Circle Pac or RTW ticket holders, even for a surcharge.
So my confirmed booking on SQ221 has now sadly become a waitlist on SQ231...
