This is not definite (and I am praying hard that it won't be). But seems like it will happen. I don't know when.
Why not reroute your flights to BKK anyway with-better meals and a 744 a day.

SIN-CGK-SIN is much easier to schedule than SIN-BKK-SIN at least for me.

Fairly recently. Note its only some of the AKL-SYD and SYD-AKL flights, others not codeshared, which is odd as being marketed as use SQ to visit both Australia & NZ in the one trip with the codeshare filling the open-jaw.

Unhappy A380 Delayed

This just in:

Airbus delays Superjumbo deliveries:

Summary:
(Reuters) - European plane maker Airbus is delaying initial deliveries of the world's biggest airliner by up to six months, which could trigger compensation payments to customers.

Well, everyone that flies between SYD-SIN-LHR (and v.v.) knows this is the 'kangaroo route' and the name has been there for quite some time as i understand.

I think they are deploying the aircraft on this route as they have to compete with Qantas/BA as they use singapore as a stopover between Australia & Europe. Seems Emirates will deploy them on the Australia-Dubai route as well. [Please tell me if i'm wrong]

Airbus is planning a 3 to 6 months delay in the A-380 deliveries to the different airlines. This is what was reported in the news this morning.

I guess they will have to pay a penalty to the airlines for every single aircraft they have ordered.

So this means we will have to wait a lot longer than we thought to be able to fly on the SQ A-380.

On Channel News Asia last night, someone speculated that SQ will want up to $100M for the delay. That's a lot of $$$, if you ask me. It also almost like buy 10 get 1 free.

That's quite a big penalty. Wonder if EK has proportionately larger one (if so maybe their oversize order makes some sense after all)?

I don't know if EK has a larger one. But according to a report, they will not seek damages for the delays because according to the contracts, they will be compensated for the delays regardless.

To ease my pain waiting for the A380 inaugural flights, today I picked up the gift from SQ. It's the Singapore Airlines A380 model scale 1:200. And SQ makes it more impressive by giving me as well the Boeing 777 model with the same scale. It's awesome to look at the different in size ... Thank you SQ!!! ^ ^ ^

Not in the KrisShop as I recalled, which usually scale at 1:400.

The VP said that this gift for me should make me be the first to have the A380 model (my guess would be the first to have it in Canada) which I really appreciate his thoughtfullness ...
