The 'new' SQ21/SQ22 (A350-900ULR): reviews, trip reports, best/worst seats and more

With the return of SQ21/SQ22 from Oct 11 2018 I thought this may deserve its own discussion thread dedicated to this flight: reviews, trip reports, comments on the best & worst seats and anything else from FT'ers doing SQ21 or SQ22.

To start: for anybody on the SQ22 inaugural, the departure gatehold room (B8) will from 10.30pm host a few speeches plus a 'performance by Cabin Crew Performing Arts Circle' before boarding commences at 10.55pm (see attached blurb).

Might be OT but I wonder if BTC will become available from EWR

You'd like to think so, but at the time of writing there doesn't appear to be a BTC option ex-EWR.

Would anyone flying on SQ21/22 soon be kind enough to post the menu? Curious to see what this ala carte includes

That's odd - only two marked as 'wellness' choices, presumably those being the ones from Canyon Ranch...

Should we expect a Trip Report?

Curious if they've alleviated some of the seat spacing issues in J.

I'm hopeful but not banking on it. Surely they would have announced something if the seats were different than the regular A359. Guess we shall find out for sure on the 11th.

Do we know which gate area/lounge will be used in Newark? Neither the Virgin lounge in B-2 nor the Lufthansa/SAS lounges in B-3 are normally open in the morning. Not so say that SQ could not "rent" one of them and have them be open.

Other option would be to depart from C and use the United Club/Polaris lounges if there is gate space available over there at that time of the morning.

Also possible to arrive at B, discharge passengers to customs area, and then tow over to C later. UA does it all the time.

What seat spacing issue? Do you mean foot cubby?

Think someone posted something in the other thread showing how the seat map in the A359-ULR shows one fewer row of seats in the front J section vs the non-ULR version.

Hoping this means more space between rows like the 777-300ER... not necessarily fixing the foot cubby issue.
