SQ also published themselves so no need to roll eyes at people that don't believe what's not published by the company itself:

I can add: he talks about the launch event, the first commercial flight would be the month after (at the earliest). Attention, insider info!

I notice SYD being talked a lot as the first possible route. Other than the Straits Times article, is there any reason why it wouldn't be (say) London or NYC (via FRA) etc?

We are hoping it will be the JKF-SIN leg as they seemed to have held back the book to cook function for the Suites class for our January flight 🤓

SYD was SQ's first A380 route, 2017 marks the airline's 50th year of flying to Australia, and SQ execs have in the recent past cited Sydney as their desired launch destination, such as:

"... we are working hard all together to make it happen and for Sydney to be the first point in our network to have the new product."

Is there any sense of what the timeline is for the rest of the new suite'd A380?

Say they do start SYD in Oct/Nov. What are the chances the second dest will be JFK? Not going to be too hopeful but it would be nice. Flying JFK-SIN Suites in late December.

The 5 new A380s will be delivered sometime between October and May. Since the first one or two A380s are probably going the the australia route, I'd say your chances are slim unless they happen to receive all 5 planes early in the delivery window.

Unlikely to start SYD in Oct/Nov now. They pushed back the launch to November, so starting SYD will most likely happen in December (or even later).

When they started A380 in 2006/7, they started with SYD, then LON, then NRT.

I reckon this time round it will still be SYD/LON for the first 2 destinations. Don't think the third destination will be NRT or HND though...

I noticed that there are no saver awards for the A380 to LHR next year. Is that normal?

Well if next year includes April then I already have 2 Saver Suites on the A380 to LHR booked.

Naturally I am hoping it will turn out to be the new Suites.

Just curious, if let's say by February 2018 SQ only has 2 new A380s, and new Suites is (for example) already plying Sydney and London at that time, will they only fly these 2 aircrafts for these 2 routes? Or sometimes they can fly the older A380 (old suites) to these 2 destinations as well?

Am I correct to say that for a guaranteed new Suites, it's better that I plan my travel to be after May?
