Consider getting a one way positioning flight to LAX and then an award flight to Narita from there.
Thanks. I'd be able to book LAX-SIN//SIN-NRT on 1 award (if available)?

Correct, SQ 11 departs from LAX to NRT at 3:30pm I believe.

You’ll have to call in if you want to include a stopover though. Will cost a bit extra and need to check availability.

Ah yes, I read incorrectly.

You can fly to Singapore via NRT from LAX on one award with stopover but not LAX to SIN and then another to NRT in one award flight.

This will definitely be backtracking.

I'm a little confused. If I fly SIN-NRT-LAX where is the stopover? Is there a max length of stopover?

Your stopover would be in Japan.

If if you do an award search from SIN to LAX, you may even find an award flight that has a stopover in Haneda which is closer to the centre of Tokyo. There are specific code bookings that only permit stopovers on one ways though and you have to pay $100.

Thanks. I read that article and understand I'll need to pay $100 for a stopover. It just wasn't clear how it worked. It still isn't but at least I know what to look for now.

There are also rules relating to the type of award too. I’m not sure if one way saver awards permits stopovers.

You have to pay $100 per stopover on a saver award. There's a limit to how many you can get.

Are all SQ 777s (772/773/77W) lie-flat in J? I can't seem to determine what the difference is between the regional and long-haul product.

IME 2-2-2 layout in the older 777’s vs the 1-2-1 layout used in the 777-300ER range. The older planes are angled flat rather than fully flat. check the seat maps but I’m sure others will know more.
