Hotel Montera Madrid, Curio Collection by Hilton
It looks like this is such a new property that I haven't seen a thread here, and there are zero traveler reviews on TripAdvisor. Looking to go in May and the point redemption rate is "reasonable" enough versus the 300EUR/night rate. Any recent visits, thoughts on area, etc.?
Edit: Only after I wrote this did I see that it's opening sometime in late March since it's not taking any reservations prior to that.

The area is exactly where everybody wants to be (these days) when staying in Madrid. I find it too noisy and hectic.
As with all new hotels, there might be teething problems... Or it might open late, leaving you stranded if Hilton can't or won't move you to another hotel.

Going in midMay so hopefully some reviews in the ~45 days prior to our arrival. But at 78000 pts per night, I'll probably stick with it. I believe I will lose Diamond status by then though. Maybe they'll give a soft landing but I doubt it, so my experience will be based on non-status.

Hotel won't open due to construction delay, but Hilton will still sell me the room!
Booked the new Hotel Montera Madrid, which had been advertised as opening in January, 2023, for late April. Got an e-mail yesterday from the hotel's rooms division manager notifying me that I need to cancel my booking due to delays in opening. However, as of right now, when I sign in to the website it shows that, as a diamond member, I can book a room on this otherwise "sold out" property for the same date. Gee, thanks! The lack of communication between the property and Hilton Honors is ridiculous!

It's always a risk that a new construction won't open so I would say that an email shows that communications might have actually improved. Since you got the email only yesterday, maybe it will take a couple of days to adjust the web site? Since you know it won't be open (thanks to an email) why would you try to keep booking it?

As an aside, I was looking at rates in Madrid in early September and they were just outrageous, but really nice VRBO properties were half the price. We have a beautiful 2 bedroom apartment in Plaza Mayor for a weekend for around $280 a night. A much better deal than getting two hotel rooms.
I was looking for a quick night in October at the airport and the Hilton rates were about $400 or 40,000 points. I'm not sure why they are so high that week, but a lot of places were sold out. I will call this my best Hilton redemption at 1 penny a point.
Anyway, if you can't find a decent hotel rate to replace that stay in Madrid, it seems to be a place where VRBO's are much cheaper than hotels. Good luck.

I stayed at the new Montero on points for two nights last week. The decor is stunning and the staff is very helpful and kind. We were given an upgraded room that was spacious and the bed was divine. The breakfast is very good consisting of a menu and a small cold buffet. The coffee could improve. The rooftop bar was still not ready but the side with the small pool was accessible. The gym is not ready. We were given free drink tickets. The smoking issue is one they are working on. Considering the hotel facilities aren’t totally finished, I think the point redemption is a bit high.
arrival is a little confusing as you cannot pull up in front of the hotel. Your taxi can stop on Grand Via by the MDonalds and the hotel is two doors down on a pedestrianized street. If you have a lot of luggage you might want to all ahead and someone could meet you with a cart. The area the hotel is in is very busy with lots of restaurants and also many souvenir shops. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Just stayed a few nights there. Photos incoming. We drove from Lisbon to Madrid. The rooftop bar was closed, the gym was open (but we didn't go to the gym ever). It rained a lot on our stay. Everyone was incredibly kind.
They handle the parking situation pretty well given that it's a bit of a logistical nightmare. However, it was definitely one of the least complicated parking fiascos I've dealt with inside of major city. Location - is fine. If you're into being on a busy shopping street.
Bonus points: champagne and tequila selection. Wow.

I managed a photo of the champagne list but I was pretty distracted by the time I noticed the tequila. They had Casa Dragones Branco
and the lowest range seemed to be Don Julio or Herradura. They're serving Pol Roger brut and the ros 2015 by the glass

Had significant issues at this property a few weeks ago I'm still trying to have fixed. Injured on property and management has been basically ghosting us. Will post more details when resolved but I would just stay away from this hotel for now since its so new. I really regret staying here.
Booked Grana room (biggest room other than suites) and was pretty cramped. The room had a bizarre lighting setup. Impossible to figure out what switches controlled what, on top of most of the lights being motion activated. The shower was its own contained room and the lights would turn off every minute (it gets pitch black). Don't bother getting a balcony. They put a tall glass wall in front of the actual balcony railing. I'm tall and could barely look down. The sheets were top notch comfortable, but the mattress already had significant sagging on the edge
Poor breakfast spread. Most of the breakfast stuff is ordered from menu, which took 20+ minutes in an empty restaurant and was nothing special. Room service was average. Bad enough that we just got McDonalds instead late one night.
Not a 5 star experience and not worth the price they are charging currently. The employees were all some of the best I've ever met though. Really enjoyed talking with them.
