We used a Cat 1-4 last Friday; our delayed Delta flight landed around 2 am Saturday morning and after we collected our checked bag, we walked from Terminal 3 to the hotel. It was perfectly fine and well-lit along the way.
We were upgraded to a King High Floor City View on the 12th (top) floor. The majority of my stays here end up assigned to this room class. Despite my email to the Front Desk Manager a day in advance, a follow-up text (with the Front Desk confirming) asking for a feather-free room, our room's duvet hadn't been replaced. I let them know how displeased I was and was given 12,000 points.
Breakfast was fine. My wife ordered a la carte off the menu so I had to fill out and sign a check with both our breakfasts showing with the total charges. I just wrote "GLOBALIST" on the total line, but the charges did show on my folio in the app when I was checking out. I stopped by the front desk on my way out and they had already wiped them.
I took a Lyft to the Hertz lot; that was $9 (offset by my $10 Amex credit).
I wish we had better options at LAX.

After a bad stay in May and telling myself I would not return to this hotel, a leverage rate that was less than the other LAX Hyatts I returned. Walking from terminal 3 and avoiding the shuttle really improved my experience. After a delayed flight in I had a smooth and fast check in I was given a room on the 12th floor no mention of a upgrade at check in but to my surprise opened the door to a large full suite with 2 bathrooms. I enjoyed the treadmills with runway views in the morning and had a smooth walk back to the TBIT. Skipped breakfast to save room for the Qantas lounge. Will be back again and will continue to just skip the shuttle and walk.

The ability to walk to United LAX Terminal is the only saving grace at this property.. otherwise, big fat meh.
1. Used a suite upgrade and got assigned a suite in the 3rd floor with a beautiful view of the parking lot even though I was told a high floor had been assigned to me earlier in the day.
2. Got charged full suite rate even though I used an SUA.
4. Got charged for valet parking even though I didn't have a car. Twice! For two different amounts!
5. Got charged for breakfast (which was decent and appreciated at 5AM).
Calls and emails to the the property have gone unanswered.
bah!

This property operates on a voucher system. You're meant to tell the restaurant host that you are globalist when seated, they give you a voucher and the server charges it off to an account instead of the room.
Will anybody tell you this when checking in so you don't fall into that trap? No, of course not!

This is SOP for this property and most others. I actually went into the hotel to make them correct my bill and issue a credit (this was a couple weeks after the stay). Of course that is not an option for everyone, particularly non-locals

Yes based on our experience. In our last stay in August we were able to order off of the menu since we went at 5 am and the buffet wasn't opening until 6 am. A previous stay when we went for breakfast after 6 am, I ordered off the menu and my wife had the buffet.

Yes, you can order off the menu. And in the past I was also able to order off the menu -- perhaps it was then a YMMV situation but it definitely is fine now.

Reposition for a trans Pacific flight. Arriving in LA around 8 am and leaving next day mid morning. Currently have both this and HR LB booked. Was able to get the LB on a cat 1-4 cert. Would you rent a car and stay at LB or stay here? No other plans in LA

If there's something special you want to do in LB then I guess go for it. Otherwise I would stay here and simply uber/lyft over to Marina del Rey or Santa Monica for lunch or dinner on your arrival day.

This hotel's proximity to LAX terminals is probably its best feature. With a full day to kill, staying at HR LAX and taking an Uber to somewhere walkable in West LA is a good call.

Yes, LAX rental car experience is to be avoided if at all possible (much like the airport itself). For our last LAX overnight, we stayed in Santa Monica, which is theoretically only 20 minutes away via surface streets. Except the wait for an Uber Black at 10 pm was an hour due to the back-up in the loop.
