Expertflyer and airline websites provide all that is needed by an experienced flyer. But there are a lot of non-savvy flyers that have trouble using their miles, hence businesses evolved to help you book rewards for a fee.

But with all the airline changes on their FF programs, everything is based on spending money and using credit cards. Distance flying doesn't mean anything these days except for lifetime status. There is not much to report on tricks for earning status. Hence, the bloggers just become credit card pushers.

If there is somekind of an event, all the bloggers just copy each other. For a new article - the post is just a summary of the news article. So the value of these blogs becomes questionable.

Seems like youtube and tiktok is where the action is for people that like to follow reality stars.
Maybe they can do an OnlyFans thing too and provide pay-on-demand miles and points advice that way.

I have posted here many times that OMATT has been my go-to for premium cabin reviews/what to expect.

He no longer is. I now go to rando YouTube videos that come up in searches. They tend to be more up to date and more comprehensive.

The success of simplifying leads to these SEO posts that generate page views and give BArea more ammunition to negotiate with advertisers.

I agree 100%. For upcoming international travel on non-US airlines - I Google the type of seat for the airline's aircraft type to decide where to sit.
You are right, lot's of good youtube reviews out there.

They do already. I think their booking service charges about $150 per ticket to book reward travel for you.

+1. I know COVID got in the way for a bit but I find a lot of his reviews are outdated now from the major carriers.

We're planning a trip for next summer and I've been trying to find reviews of a few different options that have popped up and many of his posts are pushing 3+ years old at this point which makes them fairly useless as airlines have been refreshing cabins and changing cabin service over the past few years.

There is a place for both kind of reviews; unfortunately (for me), video is increasingly more in fad nowadays for product/service reviews.

If I were OMAAT, I would probably look at building a video review element too. Maybe even developing a way for users to contribute video cabin reviews and even get rewarded for doing so.

As someone with a keen eye for cinematics and being subjected to his teen sons of consumption of nonstop videomedia.
OMAAT should never ever, ever, never again branch out into creating video content for their own personal safety...

You have his novelty selfmade video:
First attempt, you can say charming in his usual "giddy" (his words) way....

You have his shortlived series on Youtube: How to / explaination
https://www.youtube.com/c/onemileatatime/videos

The power of influencing is stronger in his written word / photos than at this half-baked attempt of being a video host.
Even Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, has made it an art to escape monotone monologue pitfalls
Some of the Youtube comments in this videoseries seem valid criticism,
Eventually none of these commenter's pointers were made to improve the series so it wasn't continued and the project abandoned.
This was the second time OMAAT tried into get into video

You would guess that true professionals could flush out any "quirks" and make a proper transition of conveying the OMAAT-message from letter to audiovisual entertainment. Or at least make it of understandable content and informative quality like most Youtube reviews of travel have done now. Or provide the indepth analysis like his blog reviews translated into video.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...vmyEiMDUszk8VN
Try to watch the whole playlist.....I dare you!

A lost chance in providing the viewer concrete facts about hotels/flights etc. for more engagement / establishment of OMAAT as THE pro-reviewer, especially as he self proclaimed the titles of:
- flew and reviewed ALL possible A380 First Class experiences
- flew and documented ALL international airlines First Class cabins

It rather chose a direction of glitter & glamour and fashion and fame.
This was the third attempt OMAAT tried video content.
They mentioned it was a joint project so OMAAT stands firm about above series that it reflected exactly the image and message they wanted to broadcast and present themselves

So don't get me started that OMAAT can even compete or should re-enter the youtube sphere of travel reviews videos. That market is out of their league and understanding!

How could they even pose competition to the now established 2 types of Youtube genuine travelreviews

1 Narrated+visuals types:
https://www.youtube.com/c/TheFlipFlopTraveller/videos

2 Subtitled+visuals types:
https://www.youtube.com/c/Theluxurytravelexpert

There exists a 3rd type but that is just shameless selfglorification where the filmer (sam/dan/josh/casey/brian-style) has hisher/its own face present in camera focus,
a bit too often,
that you wonder if the true subject is the flight/hotel
and if prolongued face filming exposure causes preferential treatment due to recognition

As
cova mentioned,
OMAAT's time should be dedicated to expand and market/license his "points.me - booking engine"
and make it a succes/household "Hobby" name just like expertflyer
and sit back and collect monthly user fees

to rest my case the OMAAT youtube channel seems not anymore getting any recent loving upkeep...
(except the Brex love affair which turned afterwards to silence - no more follow up / updates)

On a lighter comedy note:

And if i read FS,
you should aways book via a preferred partner,
is more than happy to help....
embedded as alinea in a post....

It has become so funny that we use it in my household as a metaphore for Pavlov's Conditioning
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_conditioning
Think FS (or any luxury hotel), think F......

Just put the promo leader in a heading at the top or end of article because that "infamous" line has been copied and pasted till death....

And a lot of fluff posts about new exciting FS-hotels have been written
as to accomodate / squeeze in that line

It surprises me though,
he got bold by mentioning to book via prefered partner (F's Virtuoso)
steer the $ towards his own business,

instead of recommending booking via amex fhr,
to increase his sales attractiveness of pumping amex creditcard and affiliate commision

Amex must be turning a blind eye on this one
or a calibrated prepared shift of revenue stream

By the time I post this here....OMAAT probably had yet another post! The pace of posting has increased substantially! Of course with all the repeats, credit card pump posts, buy points with my affiliate links posts, inconsequential airline "news", some stupid clickbait (but way less than VFTW), the now occasional review (which will be less because...baby)...My guess is both OMAAT and VFTW are angling for an exit payout and then move on to something else, you know, fatherhood does that to you and they both have been at it for almost two decades. I see OMAAT going to deal with another venture point.me or something else (at least as long as the non compete lasts) and VFTW maybe going into some libertarian politics or sign on to help Ted Cruz run for President or whatever...

They both certainly do not have the look for video imho.,

When they sell out it will open up the field for me to take over...

Ok, LOL on that previous sentence.

I find that the weekly summary article is a great way of avoiding the credit card posts, and reading the proper news !
