GS/Global Services is the highest tier of elite status. It is by invitation -- the invite criteria is not public but seems to require substantial annual spending with UA both in terms of absolute dollar amounts and purchasing higher fare classes (higher cpm - cents per mile).

GS have significantly enhanced services / benefits over 1Ks. There is little said publicly by UA on GS benefits and/or qualification.

Last years's thread, Consolidated Global Services Thread - Qualifications, Benefits and Q & A [2014]
Thread on qualiflying for 2015, Global Services 2015 Notifications (ONLY)
and a thread on FlyerTalk Forums Thread Wiki: GS 2015 -- No Word Yet / Still waiting / Why?

Known facts from United:
  • Global Services recognizes the extraordinary dedication of our top flyers. We consider a number of factors beyond the usual Premier-qualifying criteria.
  • We look at your travel spend on United-operated flights relative to that of other top Premier flyers over recent consecutive years.
  • Usually, members invited to Global Services tend to consistently purchase premium cabins or fully refundable tickets.

We appreciate your commitment to United in 2014, and thank you for making us your choice of airline so often throughout the year. We've carefully reviewed your request to be reconsidered for Global ServicesSM status. Unfortunately, based upon your flight activity, we are unable to extend a Global Services invitation for 2015.

As you plan your travel for 2015, here are a few things to keep in mind:

■ Global Services recognizes the extraordinary dedication of our top flyers. We consider a number of factors beyond the usual Premier-qualifying criteria.

■ We evaluate your travel spend on United-operated flights relative to that of other top Premier flyers over recent consecutive years.

■ Usually, members invited to Global Services tend to consistently purchase premium cabin or fully refundable tickets.

On behalf of everyone at United, thank you for your commitment and valued business. We appreciate that you make us your choice in the skies, and will look forward to seeing you on many future flights.

Best regards,
Your Global Services team

Cool, but that is not a published status that can be found anywhere by searching (other than your accidental finding in html code) and what does that have to do with UC access for GS when on domestic fights which is the question that was asked. It is like saying Silver can book E+ at check in. Ok, that is a perk they get but has absolutely nothing to do with why GS don't get UC access when flying domestic. Apples and oranges. So to make it more correct. UC access is not a benefit to any published status level. And yes, GS is published, just not the requirements. You can find many references to it on the benefits pages of UA where you will not see anything about Chairman's Circle.

It was a response to this sentence:

I felt compelled to point out that there is a United status that offers complimentary UC access, just a very exclusive status:

The reason GS doesn't include UC membership is probably because many GS already purchase it on their own. UA knows what % of new GS invitees are already UC members; offering free UC membership to all GS members tells that % of GS members that are already UC members not to renew their UC memberships. So UA would essentially be leaving money on the table. If the % is high, and I suspect it is, UA is wise to do this.

The list was read aloud in HNL few days ago then brought forward by name at SFO last night.

Last night on UX coming in asked twice by the FA if I wanted anything else in particular. I was surprised so looked at the FA first time out and he asked if I wanted a "soda". Declining with thanks offered something else again when he did the water service. Something new?

Oh man. Lost GS to 1K yesterday. Which of course was the day my family's flight was cancelled from DEN-CMH...

Took me two hours on the 1K line to get it sorted with different agents (I somehow spoke to the same agent twice on two different calls). The agent just repeatedly said, there are no flights from DEN to CMH.
Me: Well, okay, are there any flights from any city to CMH?
Agent: No.
Me: Okay...well I see flight from Dulles.
Agent: I see those. But nothing from Denver.
Me: But if we can get from Dulles...then we just need to figure out how to get them from Denver to Dulles...
Agent: But there are no flights from Denver to Columbus.
Me:....

It was infuriating. A call with GS would have been vastly different. And of course the agent put them into coach instead of first which they had originally paid for, which required two more calls to fix. That $15K in 3 months offer is starting to look a lot better.

What it takes to Get GS

I got the following boiler plate reply from UA on what it takes to become a GS. I had always wondered what was involved so if you have the same curosity, here it is:

We appreciate your commitment to United in 2014, and thank you for making us your choice of airline so often throughout the year. We've carefully reviewed your request to be reconsidered for Global ServicesSM status. Unfortunately, based upon your flight activity, we are unable to extend a Global Services invitation for 2015.

I'm not so sure - I have been GS for three years now and will never purchase a UA membership not have I ever desired one - 95% of my travel is international (as are many/most GS I believe) so I get in the UA clubs/ GFL anyways with my ticket.

So many GS don't need the benefit-- they already get it-- and those who travel domestically probably pay for it.

I wish it was included. When Im international I don't need it, but I wouldn't pay for it domestically as its rare that I need it...and it would be a nice perk to have in case of the occasional delay.

To be honest - the GS line - while not perfect - is WAY better than any club rep (excluding the GFL) I've dealt with - and that's a lot in the last 3 years for me....

Totally agree on that point. I was more referring to a (theoretically) nice place to park myself.

+1. As an aside, I bet a fair amount of GS folks have lifetime club memberships (like me).
