It's not a permanent thing. They've been doing it off and on when the protests are causing significant occupancy and/or staffing issues. They were doing it a couple of weeks ago, but I think they stopped. Your best bet is to call right before you're supposed to arrive, with the caveat that it could change overnight.

Just spending 2 nights here and wanted to mention that the occupancy rate must be shockingly low at the moment.
Whilst on the plus side this allowed the Conrad to upgrade me from a standard room to the suite with terrace (which is great IMHO) the downside is the breakfast offering.
Whilst I had experienced the Conrad to ask their guests with Exec Lounge access to use the restaurant rather than the lounge for breakfast, the occupancy level must be now so shockingly low that the ask ALL guests to use the lounge as the restaurant is closed. So if you're looking for a relaxing breakfast in the lounge the Conrad is not the place to be at the moment as the lounge is too small to handle all guests in an effective manner.

Hi everyone. This is my first time venturing into the hotel threads. Some are making a big deal about the churnability of the Citi Hhonors card that gives 50k/60k points. I checked Hilton's website and one can only get two to three nights at Hilton properties in Bangkok for that amount. Is there any trick to this?

At the risk of a mod throwing these posts to who knows where, I will chime in...
And rightfully so. Read the thread dedicated to that card. People are doing lots, and lots of points with these things - and have been for years. Twice as many if you have a travel partner to share a room with.
Closest thing to a "trick" is cash + points. Conrad BKK for a night this week is pricing out at 6002 THB/night after taxes and fees. Award night is 30,000 points. Cash + points is 12,000 points plus 1830 THB after taxes and fees. So it is 40% of the points plus about 30% of the money. Taking 6002-1830 = 4172 THB = $128.90 USD for 12,000 points, so that is 1.07 cents/point value which is considered good for hhonors points these days (especially considering you can get 60,000 with the aforementioned credit card at an opportunity cost of $20).

What is shocking? That occupancy is low? I was at the Conrad BKK the last week in May. All guests were asked to have b/f in the executive lounge. When I had b/f, the lounge was not that busy - I sat at one of their window seats. Of course food choices are less compared to the main restaurant. This is still a great hotel. I have fallen to HH G, but I am still upgraded from standard room to corner room with executive lounge access. The evening Happy Hour remains unchanged.

So for those deciding on a place to stay in BKK, is this new Hilton a competitor to the Conrad or ???
