And rightfully so. Read the thread dedicated to that card. People are doing lots, and lots of points with these things - and have been for years. Twice as many if you have a travel partner to share a room with.

Closest thing to a "trick" is cash + points. Conrad BKK for a night this week is pricing out at 6002 THB/night after taxes and fees. Award night is 30,000 points. Cash + points is 12,000 points plus 1830 THB after taxes and fees. So it is 40% of the points plus about 30% of the money. Taking 6002-1830 = 4172 THB = $128.90 USD for 12,000 points, so that is 1.07 cents/point value which is considered good for hhonors points these days (especially considering you can get 60,000 with the aforementioned credit card at an opportunity cost of $20).
