Lower prices for current plats?

So I'm trying to understand the pricing for an E+ subscription for people who are currently Platinum. Will the subscription pricing be the same as what is offered for those who are, say, Silver or Gold? Are we likely to see the pricing on this change as we approach December? I seem to recall that maybe there was some variation in pricing when I last paid attention to this in 2011.

I worked really hard last year to earn Platinum for this year, but unfortunately I'll be lucky to make Silver for next year due to a variety of reasons. All that effort to earn Platinum last year and I haven't flown once this year.

So I'd like to keep the guaranteed at booking E+option (as opposed to the T24 that Silvers have now) for next year as I will be flying a number of transcons next year for work and personal travel.

Thanks for any advice.

I'm glad to see miles for the Club membership are back. I went that avenue to renew my erstwhile RCC Membership several times and was depressed when it was gone. I think there was a survey about that before I phased it out and I stated I wanted it to stay. Therefore, glad it's back. More options are always better.

for now Gold / Plat and higher have free E+ access and therefore no price point should exist for Plat. If that changes, it will likely make "Les Misrables" look like a church social in comparison.

Hi everyone,
I wanted to give you a heads up that we just launched into production the full-year subscription products that many of you saw in the Preview program earlier this month. To recap, this includes two products were bringing back after a PSS-induced hiatus the ability to purchase United Club with award miles, and full-year access to Economy Plus as well as a checked baggage option.

Over the past few weeks, weve been working on a number of fixes based on Preview feedback, and were going to continue monitoring these to work out any remaining kinks in the first few days of launch. These include:

  • Migrating United Club information for all members to the Manage Subscriptions section of My Account, meaning that United Club members of any type (paid, miles, lifetime) can view and manage their membership information in one place
  • Adjusting the lead price on marketing pages so that it is more dynamic based on the customers Premier level and existing subscription memberships (note: in some cases the non-member price may still be visible as these products are also available as a gift option)
  • Addressing additional pricing display discrepancies, specifically for foreign points of sale

Youll also notice that the current TravelBank section of My Account has been resized to accommodate membership information for the above products. Feedback on this layout is indeed something that weve absolutely heard, and as mentioned in another thread, everything is on the table as we move to a new website in the coming year.

Other bonuses that go along with the Club Card:

1) Club access as previously mentioned
2) Free 2 checked bags, which is a very expensive option if you select the "Global" option
3) Platinum status for staying at Hyatt
4) Priority boarding: Not sure which Group, but I think it is 3/4
5) No forex fees

So while you don't get E+, you still get a fair number of benefits that make the Club card a good deal if you care about these travel options.

The pricing on this makes absolutely no sense.

For $999 / year, I can check two bags for myself and up to eight companions for all the UA flights we take globally...

For some people, this is a no-brainer... Could pay for itself after one trip...

Is anybody here an Amazon Prime subscriber? It seems to me that this may incent people to fly UA similar to how Amazon's annual S&H costs incents you to make all your on line purchases through them...

The other thing this (and other new subscriptions) do is put a price tag on elite status...

By being Silver, Gold, etc., I can see exactly how much money I save when I receive these benefits for 'free'.

PS Currently, the $50 initiation fee is 'waived'! Get your subscription now!

Okay, I hadn't thought through that scenario. If you're travelling domestically with a soccer team, it makes sense.

The "cheaper" options make no sense, though. You'd be much better off having the club card.

Club Card gets you bags for everyone on your reservation? I am not familiar with it...

Even Explorer would make more sense than this for some (many) people.

It doesn't, that was my point -- you're right that the new subscription makes sense if you're travelling with lots of people on a reservation.

Club card gets you two bags for free for up to two people on a reservation, I think. Plus, it gets you a million other things. So, for most scenarios, it works.

Well, we have FT enabling the blatant abuse of Club entry privileges (guesting strangers).

I wonder how we can set up a similar system for these new subscription offerings?

It would involve the sharing of personal information, so probably not feasible...

I'm very excited about the return of E+ subscription. One question though. Is there anyway for me to buy/use a subscription while using my TK number? What if I have my TK number in my MP Profile?

in the past the answer is no -- the E+ annual subscription is linked to and activated by your MP account. The issue is how is UA to know if you have the subscription w/o the use of MP account.
