Lost item on Delta Flight
I lost my iPad on a Delta flight today. I filled out the lost item on flight form on the website but I'm wondering if calling will help. An earlier message suggested
"call 1-800-325-8224
ask to speak to a supervisor.
They can check the lost and found logs, and also send a message to the airport to have them double check, and get your info so when it is found we can call you."
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks very much,
R

life after iPad
Very sorry for your loss - I can't imagine losing mine.
Was your iPad running ios 4.2 ? Or was it still running the software that came with it when you bought it ? The latest version offers free remote 'send a message' to your iPad and 'emit a loud sound' so that if it's on - someone would hear it and read your message pleasing for return.
If you subscribed to MobileMe - you have that anyway.
Just guessing here ...
If it was just 'on' the plane - but not found/kept by another passenger - then the cleaning crew would probably find it and turn it in.
I have lost a couple of things on Delta flights - and neither has ever been returned. I'm sure they were found ;\ ... just nobody wanted to give up their find. One was a 3K diamond eternity band that slipped off while washing my hands in the lavatory - and the second was a first generation archos mp3 player - valuable only to me ... but I'm sure a neat curiosity to whomever found and kept it.
They let me reboard the plane to look after all the other passengers got off - and one flight attendant mentioned that if I didn't see it fairly near my seat that either a passenger - or one of the other flight attendants might have kept it for themself. : )
funny in a sad way.
I hope you have better luck.

Wish I could be more optimistic; however I agree with runCMD.
My $700 leather jacket I loved (bought in Florence, Italy) was not returned to me by 1st class FA. I was on my return flight to TPA. Didn't realize I didn't have it until I was in the main terminal.
Long story short.....called lost & found probably 20 times, wrote Delta..etc. Never got it back.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I also doubt you will see it again. I left an mp3 player and nc headphones in the seat pocket once and they never turned up.
Luckily I booked using my Amex and they automatically include lost luggage insurance and was covered, check with your credit card company and see if you have any coverage with them.

I sat next to a Delta employee (with one of the subsid - can't remember who) who said that whenever he finds stuff he always turns it in. I asked, "Doesn't everyone?" He said, nope, most people just keep it since it wasn't found at that point, no one knows that it was there. Sorry for your loss with that one, but I would guess that it won't be turned in.

I have left my wallet, my Blackberry, my wallet, my I-Pod and my wallet on planes (yeah, I should never put my wallet in the seat back in front of me...) and have 100% success getting the stuff back. The trick is not going through the DL process, but physically go to the airport and ask them to ask the people who were working at the gate when the plane landed. Even if the cleaning crew found the item, IME, they would have asked the ground crew if anyone reported losing the item.
Several years ago, I left my cell phone on a plane and went through the lost and found department. The next day, I was flying out, so I stopped by the Atlanta Room to see if it had turned up. I was told it hadn't, but dialed the number when standing here and could hear it ring. The DL employee at first wouldn't even check the ringing phone, until I pointed out that it was very unlikely that someone lost a phone that was sitting back there is ABBA's Waterloo as the ringtone. That made me realize the lost and found process is useless.

the phone reps do not have access to the list any more, I used to call when Ieft my item now I am just directed to the website, good luck hope and employee and or another passenger was honest enough to turn it in. I have heard many stories of other passengers taking things and not turning in as well.. sad but true... just hope it is not a fellow FT'er!!

I left my Macbook on DL 31 this past Sunday, and realized my mistake as soon as I reached Manhattan. The Diamond help line wasn't terribly helpful -- she said she couldn't contact or connect me with anyone on the ground at JFK, and suggested in fill in the online form and wait a week -- but she did say I might improve my odds if I went straight back to JFK and spoke to a Red Coat. So I did; the Red Coat told me to go to baggage services, and a very helpful agent in the baggage services (domestic arrivals) tracked it down to an agent in the baggage services (international arrivals) desk (where obviously I should have gone in the first place), who coincidentally had sent me an email to the effect of "we think we've found your laptop" 20 minutes before, but which I had not seen.
Morals of the story: contact baggage services at the airport as soon as possible, hopefully while your airplane is still at its arrival gate. Show up in person if you can. And it helps to be a Diamond.
Good luck!

Thanks, it looks like Visa provides this also. Do these policies include items lost on the flight rather than on the airline? How did you prove you lost it? Did you have to say it was stolen?

What happened to babe11 happened to my friend. A very expensive hand-made leather coat from London stolen by some Delta employee basically. It was pretty clever how it was done. We were flying back to MSY, where it was warm, and the FA removed the jacket and just returned the jacket WITHOUT THE COAT and since the weather was nice in New Orleans, he didn't realize until he was out of the airport that he'd never gotten his coat back. They never returned any of his calls or emails. I guess it was a nice Christmas gift or profit for somebody. :-(

I left my iPod touch and SHURE earphones on a flight last month from PIT to ATL. That was on a Friday and the following Monday when I had a layover in ATL and went to the lost and found in baggage claim and luckily enough both items were there.
You might be just as lucky and your iPad will be turned in.

Found it!
I found it in my bag--it was in a black case so it blended in with the bag. I'm grateful to know about Visa's program though.
But I often lose things so I'd still like to know: For the person who got his money back from Amex, did you have to prove theft or did you simply say that you had left the bag? How easy was the process. It turns out Visa has a program like this but I have never used it.

Good call. Wish I had remembered that it was offered back in January. Flew CMH - ATL - STT in first and placed my PSP in the seat back pocket, fell asleep, and landed. Forgot to grab it and didn't realize it until I was out of the terminal. Went back to the ticketing agent and they literally told me to get lost and that there was nothing that they could do. I chalked it up to a learning experience and looking back, I am so glad that it wasn't my IPad (not released yet.)
On a slightly unrelated note, I unknowingly left a Kindle (2nd gen) on a Southwest flight and they called me to left me know I left it. Pretty impressive that they found it in my arrival city giving all the point-to-point flying WN does.
