MCR strikes again! I had successfully entered the necessary number of codes to earn the amusement park ticket several weeks ago, but I had not taken the time to print the actual ticket out since it was in my unredeemed rewards and I did not think it was at risk. In fact, based on the way it was presented in my account, I thought I had until September to redeem this earned reward.
Today, I attempted to take the next step in "redeeming" my already earned reward, and MCR tells me they are "sorry" but the item isn't available any more. How is that possible? They didn't tell me that the award was no longer available when I was entering codes. I forfeited earning MCR points at that time to earn the amusement park ticket. So I effectively cashed in 20 codes and don't have anything to show for it. Maybe its a temporary glitch, but if not, this program has surprised me again by sinking to a new all time low. |
Can't enter any codes on THirsty for THrills
And today when I went to enter my 4 remaining cap codes to get to 20 for the Cedar Point ticket, it says "Sorry, it looks like something went wrong when you entered that code. Please try again later. "
Is this program dead already? More new lows, as said. |
Similar to the Cedar Fair issues that the last two posters mentioned, I inputted 20 codes, clicked to redeem for my Cedar Fair code, but never received the confirmation email.
MCR has not responded to my inquiry in their online system yet either. |
Cedar Point Tickets
According to the discussion at SD, this MCR offer is dead, and those that do not have a ticket code in hand are SOL.
It's one thing to be told when you are entering codes that the promo is dead and your effort will not be rewarded. It's a completely different animal to cash in your codes, be assigned an award in your account, told that the award is good until September, and then when you are ready to use it to be told that they conveniently cancelled your award. |

I had that happen last year, email back/forth, they said it was a "glitch" and I got it back (I don't remember exactly how, but this promo was squirrley last time too)

Can you clarify what you mean by "got it back"? Does that mean that they gave you an amusement park ticket, or they added MCR points back to your account? As poor of a value as this program is, I really don't want more MCR points that I can't use -- I want the ticket.

Sent email and still no response. This is horrible public relations. |
So I just called and they said the Rewards is out of stock, it was "while supplies last", and any codes entered are lost. SOL.

They gave me the reward back. It was weird - I didn't print it out right away or something ( basically leaving it on hold in my MCR account). I emailed for assistance and they did get back to me but it took awhile.

Other downsides are (1) the drop in value from $13 to $10 and (2) the fact that it doesn't appear that the rewards can be converted to gift cards, which was a nice feature of last year's promo.

I guess the lesson is that as soon as you earn a reward, redeem for it. I know that some expire if you log out of your account.

Despite the condescending Monday morning quarterbacking going on, I'm baffled that any reasonable person who read the following rules:
"Enter codes from any 20 participating beverages anytime between 4/15 and 5/25 for one admission to the selected Cedar Fair park located in the United States . . ." and had a reward appearing in their MCR account with an explicit expiration date of "09/05/2016" would think anything other than they have an amusement park ticket that they can use any time until the first week of September. |
