A response, out of the blue, re e-miles awards on e-rewards

Out of the blue today, I got a belated response from e-miles, unfortunately they addressed it to "Carol", yea, I'm definitely not a "Carol" on a number of levels... anyway, e-miles is still not showing up as a redemption option on e-rewards (it says it's "out of stock", it's been that way for many months). Their reply is sufficiently ambiguous, amorphous, arbitrary and a weird way to answer my original question, to win them a cover on Time Magazine... I really hold out no hope that the e-mile redemption on e-rewards will ever be "in stock" again; although I continue to participate in e-rewards, I've effectively tossed e-miles to the curb along with mypoints and so many others from the past. anyway, fyi and fwiw.

Hello Carol,

Thank you for contacting eMiles Support. We apologize for the delay in response. We currently don't offer the ability to transfer points from eRewards to eMiles. However, eRewards redemptions are completely available to you through their site as are eMiles. We apologize for any inconveniences this may bring.

Regards,
eMiles Support

Just starting to spend more time in SPAM again and am glad to see that I'm not the only one who is less than thrilled with the recent "enhancement." I'm having issues with the surveys crashing upon submission of a completed one.

Naturally, nobody from e-Miles bothers to answer my emails.

no charity emiles for young adults

As we've all discovered, it's much much harder to earn emiles since the summer "enhancement." One further problem we've encountered is that my young adult children (ages 27-32) no longer get opportunities to earn emiles for charitable donations, even though they've previously made some donations through the emiles link, but spouse and I (middle aged) still do. One of our children emailed emiles about this, was told they're busy and would respond in 3 days, but it's been 2 weeks and no reply. We all liked emiles for the ability to keep airline miles from expiring, which used to be painless, but now is a huge effort to earn sufficient emiles.

Another reply from e-miles...

I replied to them, and asked simply: On e-rewards the option to redeem for e-miles is "out of stock", has been for months. Please remove that option or tell me when it will be active."
Their reply received today:

"[email protected] commented:

Hello STEPHEN,

Please be advised, we currently do not have an estimated time frame on when eRewards will be available as we do not have that function on our site.

Thank you for your time,
eMiles Support"

That make any sense to you? That's my last attempt. For the second time, they not only didn't answer my question, they gave a mangled response. That's it for me for e-miles, but thought I'd share their add'l response here. Personally, not fooling with them any more. Best of luck to those of you who still find the e-miles site worthwhile. I'm done.

I've had an e-miles account for several years which allows me ONLY UA miles & offers miles for charity contributions. This spring I created a new account which allows me miles of all airlines & points of all hotels, but never offers earnings for charity. Even though I think I used my same birth date--unless I used my buddy's birthdate so as not to be detected as a duplicate account :o .

no charity emiles for young adults

The young adults in our family who no longer get charity opportunities for emiles have had their accounts for many years. Another much older family member has had her account only a little over a year, but she gets these opportunities (as do the middle aged folks with long time accounts). All have used emiles for charity donations in the past. So I still think it's age related. And I can't see why opportunities can't be offered, even if emiles thinks the likelihood of use is lower for young adults.

Recent Alaska Airline redemption experiences?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has redeemed e-miles for Alaska miles recently and had issues.

I did a transfer in early November that did not post for more than a month. At that point, I followed up with Alaska, figuring their customer service was better than e-miles, and about two weeks later got a useless response saying that if my miles had not posted, I should follow-up with e-miles. I responded back expressing my disappointment with that response, which did not even indicate if they had made any attempt to work with e-miles. I also sent an email to e-miles. Neither party responded but I noticed the points are now in my account but posted as a "service compensation" leading me to believe that Alaska might have provided the miles as a courtesy adjustment.

Since I have more e-miles I would like to transfer to Alaska, I was wondering if the process was generally working as expected for other people. Thanks for any feedback!

archstenton Dec 22, 2017 1:56 pm

Actually, yes re:issues.
In the past for me, Alaska always credited around the first week of the month. I noticed it would post in Alaska, then maybe a day or two later, Emiles redemption would change from "pending" to "completed".
I had two redemptions requested in early November. Alaska still doesn't show the miles and Emiles has already changed to "completed" over a week ago.

I guess you're telling me to start contacting people.

Thanks, my previous Alaska redemptions (all before the new website) always posted quickly, and I usually initiate e-rewards/e-miles transfers towards the end of the month, since I thought that some programs posted in the beginning of the month. I never checked status on the e-miles website.

I'm not telling anyone else what to do, but when the expected amount of time for points posting (30 days for e-miles transfers to Alaska) passes, I usually follow-up (assuming I remember).

mlhall Dec 22, 2017 8:21 pm

Yes..

Redeemed for 500 Mileage Plan miles on 11/22/17. Today, E-miles shows redemption as completed but Mileage Plan does not show the miles have posted yet. Also redeemed for 1,500 Mileage Plan miles on 12/8/17 which is still pending.

I wanted to provide an update for others in the same situation. The Alaska Airlines rep responded to my email and confirmed that she manually posted points as a courtesy adjustment, and she also said that she had no way to follow-up with e-miles. I have not received a response from e-miles, and it has been a week since I contacted them.

Update

Both of the aforementioned Mileage Plan redemptions appeared in my account today. I contacted e-miles on 12/29.

randix Jan 9, 2018 2:19 pm

I submitted my last Alaska mileage reward request from e-miles back on 11/24. I emailed e-miles customer service at the end of December when they didn't post, and got zero response. I emailed Alaska and was told that they have no way of accessing e-miles, there was nothing they could do, I'd have to contact e-miles.

Today the Alaska miles posted. I have closed my e-miles account, not worth it, especially given their format change, the headache of having to monitor posting of awards, and the lousy customer service. Also, since e-rewards has effectively killed their option for e-miles reward redemption.

archstenton Jan 10, 2018 10:16 am

Mine too finally, either they fixed a glitch or got enough complaints & someone finally turned on their computer and clicked "Approve"

randix Jan 14, 2018 3:26 pm

I received this from e-miles about an hour ago:

Hello XXXXXX,

I have heard back from Alaska Airlines regarding the missing redemption points from our members. There was a system problem on Alaska's side where eMiles redemption request did not process correctly. That is the reason why our members weren't seeing their points in their Alaska accounts. Alaska re-processed the files and my Tech Team has advised that they've received confirmation that the miles have been successfully deposited.

Thank you for your patience,
eMiles Support

Would do - but don't have any....Germany is a Chase-free-Country :D

pointshogger Apr 9, 2018 3:42 pm

Anyone else notice a devaluation today? I normally transfer to Southwest at a 1:1 ratio. This is what is looks like now:

Rapid Rewards Points

500 = 650 Points
1,000 = 1,300 Points
1,500 = 1,950 Points
2,000 = 2,600 Points
2,500 = 3,250 Points
3,000 = 3,900 Points

Yikes?

I typically redeem for United or IHG on e-miles, and there was no devaluation for either one of those.

Good to know. May look into switching up my reward redemption then.

If you can't do it via e-miles, then this question really is better suited for the Southwest forum, but in an effort to help, I'll offer this: Why not use the Southwest shopping portal to buy something really cheap at Home Depot or Office Depot, then pick it up to avoid shipping costs? Not quite free, but don't you think spending $1 to keep your miles alive is worth it? https://rapidrewardsshopping.southwest.com/

Edit: Sorry, just saw that you're based in FRA, so I guess the portal is not an option. Again, best to post the question over there.

Has anyone noticed that now you can access e-miles only from USA.

On the login page it says:
eMiles is only available within the United States.

I guess VPN can help, but that is a new change...

Same problem here. Not worth bothering with a VPN for the few bits I get out of e-miles.

I'm at 400 and something and just want to cash out 500 UA miles before giving up.

I'm in a similar position. I'm just going to wait until I'm next in the States.

Although I don't know when it happened, I recently noticed that AA is now 550 points to get 500 miles, instead of 500 or 500. The program today is worth very little. tls

United, Hilton, IHG, and Delta appear to be unchanged so far.

Do you have trouble logging in? I tried to log in but no luck from outside the US. I have a bunch of miles in our accounts and it's annoying if they take them away just like that.

You will have to use VPN with an US IP address.

Brendan May 23, 2018 2:30 pm

Nacho, or you can ask an FTer located in the USA to log into your account & order e-miles to be transferred into your hotel/ airline accounts. It must be somebody whom you trust with your Username & Password. Of course, after s/he has ordered for you, you can change your password quickly!

Again, not without VPN or USA access, as you can't even login.

Brendan May 23, 2018 3:03 pm

Du-uh! I forgot about that! Thanks for catching my mistake, Jms_uk!

nacho May 24, 2018 4:05 am

Wow! Thanks a lot for the responses! One thing I'm still wondering though is that I pressed I forgot my password and I never get a reset password email.

Do they block that from outside the US too?

TIA!

Just received from E-miles:

Dear Member,

We wanted to reach-out with an important update about the eMiles program and your membership.

We greatly appreciate your support and participation in eMiles, as well as the millions of other Members over the years, but sadly we need to communicate that the eMiles program will soon be coming to a close.

We will provide additional updates along the way, but wanted to inform you of a couple of key dates in advance:
  • Effective June 15, 2018, eMiles Redemptions will close, so please be sure to log-in and redeem, as unredeemed points will expire on June 29, 2018
  • After June 15, 2018, you will continue to be able to log-in to eMiles, view your account history, claim previously-redeemed rewards, and communicate with [email protected]
IMPORTANT NOTE:
As an existing member of the e-Rewards Opinion Panel (our sister company), any eMiles Points that you have not redeemed by June 15, 2018 will be loaded into your e-Rewards account (associated with this e-mail address) on or before June 29, 2018, in the amount of $0.05 in e-Rewards Currency, for each remaining eMiles Point.

This ensures you can continue to take advantage of your eMiles Points, as well as the great earnings opportunities that e-Rewards has to offer.

We’ll be sure to send additional reminders, so you don’t forget to redeem your points, but please visit our FAQ if you have any questions.

Thank you again for being an integral part of our community.
