Compensation for delayed flight
Hi all,
Does anyone know if I am entitled to a compensation when my Zagreb to Manchester flight was 7h delayed as there was flooding in Palma, Spain earlier that day and the same airplane which went to Spain was late for my flight from Croatia?
Ryanair is saying I am not entirely but does it matter for me who flew from a different country and there were no weather issues in Croatia nor UK that day.
Thank you,
Evecooper

From what I understand, a "knock-on" effect like this can be fairly used as a get out for paying compensation but only until such time as the plane gets back to its base where replacements/workarounds/rescheduling become more practical.
Your plane seems to be Zagreb based so the question is, was the Palma rotation the one immediately before yours? If so then no compensation. If not then compensation may be due, although you'll likely have to fight for it or get someone to fight for you.

If Zagreb is a base, I would say that Ryanair can't claim knock on effect, and would only be excused for the flight from Palma to Zagreb.

To my knowledge Zagreb is not a FR hub and I doubt FR has aircrafts stationed there.
Flooding in Palma and consequential delays sounds very much extraordinary circumstances. You will have to fight for this one.

don't want to create another topic with the same meaning but I have delayed flight - FR 693 MAN - VIE 19/07/2024

delayed more than 3 hours. When I apply for EU261, receive message: You are not entitled to compensation. Your flight FR693 on 19/07/2024 was disrupted due to to a global third-party system outage, which was beyond our control. If you wish to contest our decision, you can take your complaint to your local Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) body. For more information on EU261 please click here.
if there any other option (no airhelp or similar) how to request EU261 because "was disrupted due to to a global third-party system outage, which was beyond our control" is just a b**sh*t which I do not agree. Should this be take to some organization in UK or Austria? thank you

You are in all likelihood not going to get far with a compensation claim on the 19th of July. Duty of care of course still applies.

Vienna Airport seems to have its fair share of problems.
Ryanair and Manchester Airport was also suffering from the incident.

Did you somehow *not* experience the chaos and delays that everyone else did there that day?

Duty of care refers to meals and accommodation while awaiting your delayed flight. If you had dinner at the airport, then you can try claiming for it (but I doubt you'll get far with that claim)

Expenses for food and drinks are recoverable under UK261. Compensation is very unlikely, but may be worth a try.

Asking for a family member. Can anyone interpret the attached Ryanair defence for exceptional circumstances that lead to a long delay for the passengers flight which was the last of the day for the aircraft. The reason for the delay has now changed from technical faults to slot restrictions. At the time the flight was due to leave Portugal the aircraft was still in Ireland with a flight to STN yet to complete. How does compensation work with knock on delays? thank you

I had the unfortunate need to fly with Ryanair today from Nantes to Stansted.
Just over 6 hour delay, no reason given.
Various costs incurred including hotel and taxi cancellation.
Do I have rights to get these costs covered?
