The CSR accurately described the rule. Enforcement has changed dramatically in the last few months, so HUACA probably won't work. From the terms and conditions:
Only the following types of non-ticket Net Purchases qualify for this offer: airline lounge day pass, or towards a yearly lounge membership of your choice; airline seat upgrades; airline baggage fees; in-flight internet/entertainment; in-flight meals; Global Entry fees.

Just had a $50 AA GC reimbursed yesterday. I got the card last summer and maxed out the 2014 $300 last fall. I called in, didn't have a problem. I use the card often for dining purchases so I have a lot of charges mixed in. Why charge 4x50 all at once. Spread it out you have a whole year. I was waiting for the whole blogger feeding frenzy to die down.

This is what I got yesterday from SM, now you have to provide documentation? This is for baggage and upgrade fees.

Yeah, I have to say that the documentation thing is a bit off-putting.
Bought some Economy tickets from USAirways. Then paid -- all this with the Ritz-Carlton Visa -- to get several legs upgraded to First. (Is it somehow a violation that the cost on one leg, to HI, was 2x $150 plus 15,000 USAirways miles?) Anyhow, on the charge card, it's just showing up as a separate $300 charge, like the >$1,000 charge for the original tickets.
My wife is the cardholder, hence has to make the call, so I would like to get all my ducks lined up beforehand. Any advice here, like is there a way to get documentation that will make this kosher to Chase?

I'm guessing you can just email the documentation - receipt or otherwise. To me, doesn't seem like a huge issue. My Octave card, on the other hand, I didn't even need to call. They saw charges come in and the credit applied instantly without intervention or documentation. That's certainly more convenient, but I'm fine with either method.

Thanks for the encouragement above. In the end, it was just as WrightHI said: My wife called, pointed to a non-descript $450 USAirways item on the statement, explained that it was to upgrade to F, and $300 credit posted in <72 hours (including Sunday).

Possible newbie question here...just got RC card and am looking at staying 5 nights in Tokyo (for honeymoon!) but first 3 paid, second 2 with the free nights. I'm planning on using a club upgrade. Experiences on hotels letting you use the club for the full 5 nights even though club upgrade only applicable to paid stays? Hoping I have a chance since we'll already have club access for first 3.
Any experiences or thoughts would be helpful!

Yes, I'm using the e-cert for the club level upgrade on first 3 nights (the paid ones). I'm hoping they just let us stay for the last 2 nights of the 5, even though they're the 2 free nights from the credit card sign-up bonus. Wasn't sure if people have had that happen or not...
