The following Rezidor Hotel Group page prominently highlights the same as a benefit, not as a promotion as CC is adament on telling us here and in their email responses:

As a Gold Elite member, you will get the following benefits:
o 35% bonus Gold Points® on top of what you would normally earn
o A guaranteed room availability with bookings up to 72 hours in advance
o A 15% discount at our all-day dining restaurants
o Weekend Extend offer: up to 2 weekend nights free when staying during the week
o Early check-in and late check-out
o Welcome present in your room upon arrival

Quite right, that link didn't copy, but here it is: http://www.rezidor.com/phoenix.zhtml...-sharebenefits

Clearly stated as a member benefit for Gold Elite members. Wow, quite a cut to our benefits and the PR on this is still a mess.

We all know there weren't that many rooms available per property, there were properties that simply opted out and that usually you had to book the rate at least two months in advance... Maybe Club Carlson didn't know that...

I don't want to do business with a company which treats its customers (loyal ones at that) this badly by providing NO advance warning and even now there's no actual announcement from the company its just people piecing things together and having to ask direct questions ! How can you respect or trust a company which behaves like that.

Absolute disgrace.

Let them know you are not impressed:

I just stayed on a member rate, got the regular points, bonus points as a Gold member, as well as the 5,000/night Q1 promotion points. All posted as usual within a few days.

Kinda ironic that they removed the benefit that became their Europe entry for the Outstanding Benefit in the 2017 flyertalk awards.

The page has been updated and the bullet point has been removed.

This was the best benefit that Club Carlson had. I have Concierge renewal for another year from March but I won't be making extra stays to ensure that I have 30 as I have done for the past seven years or so...

Cancelled their co-branded credit cards - personal and business. I'll take my business travel elsewhere.

Question about the 2 for 1, 4 for 2 that is now gone. I have a 2/1 booked in October and my 1 year anniversary for my card is in May. With this change, I'm thinking about not renewing my credit card with Carlson. Will this in any way affect the 2/1 that I booked if I cancel that card about 5 months before my stay? Thanks.

The page with the terms and conditions is down now, but I believe it did say you have to be a gold member at the time of the stay. I've never tried it, I have 5 more 2-for-1's coming up so I'm going to keep my card until the next cycle (it renewed a couple months ago). After that I believe I will be done as well, without the 2-for-1's there is no reason to keep the card.

I would think it may depend on the hotel, as to how picky they are with the rate and you being an active Gold member.

Bummer, but at least I'll get 40K more points to use later.

The gold status that I get from the card is automatically terminated when I cancel the card? Too bad it doesn't last til the end of the year that I cancel.

That I'm not sure about, maybe someone who cancelled the card can confirm?

Feedback sent. Been ClubCarlson Concierge for 3 years in a row, this was the only benefit keeping me in the program. I'll focus elsewhere from now on.

Feedback sent and I received a reply within minutes.

Dear elsie,

Thank you for voicing your concern in regards to us ending our Elite Member weekend extend promotion 2-for-1 and 4-for-2 recently. This was a targeted offer for our Elite members only and not part of the benefits. Club Carlson has many different member only promotions available at select participating hotels. As we endeavor to keep our offers simple and relevant, we noticed that these offers were underutilized. Please make sure you visit our special member only promotions page frequently as we continue to enhance and look to add value for our members https://www.clubcarlson.com/secure/offers/1843488
Regards,
XXX, Global Member Care Specialist, Club Carlson

I wrote back and offered a rebuttal to the "targeted offer."
