BA will NOT check your bags through on two separate tickets. Even if you can enter some linking note in the PNR.
This seems to me an extremely risky connection. For example BA2033 landed at 1:25am on 23/12 departure.
Of course, your flights could be on time and you could make it if you rush, but that is cutting it very tight.
There might be a way to to avoid getting through custom/immigration and have your bags directly forwarded to your final destination, once you reach DOH, but I am not familiar with the procedure if any.
ANyway, I would never favor travelling under such a stress.

I booked a similar trip using my BA companion voucher, separate ticket on QR to BKK. I wouldn’t want any less than 4 hours for an unprotected connection, so booked an 8 hour connection for my trip. Whilst it might technically be possible to connect quicker, there’s so little room for error, I wouldn’t want the stress.

I agree with brunos and travellingjake
With a c.2 hour transit, you effectively have only one hour from scheduled arrival to have passed through arrival formalities and rechecked for your next flight. A short inbound delay (say 20 mins) plus a bus gate (say 20 more mins) plus walking time and even a minor wait at immigration and baggage reclaim and you'll be looking for your credit card to buy a new onward flight.
A gambler might risk it if travelling hand baggage only (although that only de-risks the immigration queue element) but most would see that as risky too. As would be hoping to ask the transfer desk at DOH to re-tag your bag. If they said yes, by that time your bag would already be on or en route to the main reclaim belt, and by the time ground staff have had time to send someone spare to find it and do the necessary you may easily be airborne again, with no luggage.
Your best bet is to build in a longer transit if travelling on separate tickets. Or save the voucher for another day and book it as one ticket.

Appreciate there is a full thread on this, but is it madness to consider an award ticket on separate bookings with a 3 hour connection time? My main concern is a delay to the first flight and I assume I would then be stuffed for the second (i.e. if I missed the flight I would need to buy a new ticket?).

Yes both are Qatar award tickets (booked through BA). Do you know if there is any guidance on what protection is available that I can check before making the booking? I’ve tried looking through the Qatar site but can’t find anything.

There isn't any official protection on separate tickets. Checking in for both at the origin saves you some time rechecking at Doha. But if you no show for the second flight, officially you're on our own.
BA don't refund redemption cancellations within 24 hours of departure, whereas QR will refund 3 hours before, so potentially theres some benefit to booking it through QR rather than BA.
Either way though, if you're delayed to the extent of missing the second flight, you are most likely looking at either buying a new ticket, or hoping for a hens teeth customer servce gesture.
Separate bookings means accepting the risk if things go wrong.

Thinking about booking the following, separate tickets. As my nonstop Vistara flight got canceled.
MLE-DOH QR F award (via AA) connecting on a separate ticket to DOH-DEL QR J paid ticket.
Connection time is around 2.5 hours. I'm assuming luggage check through shouldn't be an issue.
Also, will I still have access to Al Safwa as an arriving/connecting F pax even though my F ticket technically ends in DOH?

DOH BA - QR self transfer
Wanted to share my experience. Flew BA127 LHR-DOH landed at 23:15 towards C gates area but no train. Immigration, baggage and recheck was easy and I was back airside within 30minutes. While I have OW Emerald status I didnt use fast track for either immigration, checkin or security so the only benefit was priority luggage. The main factor I believe is many arrivals are post midnight that may slow down immigration and baggage. Connected to QR 1369 2:10 departure and managed decent lounge time.

Is it advisable to do online check if youre asking at checkin to have baggage sent to your final destination? Or does it make no difference?
Would rather be not be downgraded to Y on an award ticket and Ive read being checked in earlier reduces that probability?

Through a previous post in this thread, I was able to find a page you can see in the screenshot below, by Googling "Qatar 'through check' courtesy." This link that showed up was from the NZ site, but I couldn't find anything on the USA (where I will be flying from) site. It should be a global courtesy, correct? I'm probably reading into it too much, but just making sure it's not a country-to-country courtesy.
For reference, I am flying business class DFW-DOH, then 13 hour layover before DOH-VCE on separate tickets... staying at the Oryx hotel in between, so hopefully will not have to leave the airport. We will most likely not have checked bags. If any mods see this, I apologize- I created a new thread about this yesterday, not seeing this thread first.

Yes, you will have AS access. Just keep your F inbound BP.

But as has been mentioned here and in the other thread, if you aren't checking any luggage then this isn't a potential problem anyway. And even if you are there have been ways suggested to deal with this on arrival at DOH in the probably unlikely event that either onward boarding passes are not issued or the bags are not checked through at DFW. You have plenty of time at DOH so even a quick trip landside.and back to recheck bags if necessary is not going to rob you of a good night's sleep.
