Very interesting, didn't know that and would have been surprised if next time, I tried upgrading EU>DOH>BKK with credits in my EU airport. Thank you

As noted before for airport upgrades you can upgrade to Doha...but for the BKK sector you will need to wait til Doha to upgrade; it is a sector based. This is a published rule on their website.

I tried to upgrade with QCredits last Friday for DOH - BKK (to First) and was told in the lounge (Al Safwa), that the flight anyway is overbooked in Business and that I would get a complimentary upgrade (what would have been my first complimentary upgrade in many years, so I was positive surprised).
Guess what happened, I did NOT get a complimentary upgrade and I could NOT upgrade with QCredits, as gate and CSD "cannot do anything" - they did leave 6 available seats free .....and me disappointed. To be clear, I did not ask for a free upgrade, I was willing to "pay" for (with QCredits) ....
QR at their best, promising something, but not holding it!

Nothing is guaranteed until you are in that seat. I bet people didn't show up for the flight and as such business wasn't oversold and this was confirmed 1 hour before departure. Has happened to me before but usually they give you the upgrade if it happens under 1 hour.

And gate and CSD seemingly can not do anything, as witnessed by me on a recent flight as a very demanding gentleman in front of me, pointed to the free seats in first and wanted to upgrade with money. They even send in the ramp agent(?) or someone in a high vis vest to explain that to him, which made him not a bit happier

If it's under an hour they won't allow it due to catering. Hard no. What you should do is before 1 hour comes check the app and see if your seat has changed....if not then quickly go to the desk and ask for an upgrade. They will call the gate and see if they are allowed and at that point you will know if you there is an opup or you need to pay for the upgrade. Key is 1 hour...that's the cutoff from experience

I renewed Platinum status a few days ago and the 60 Qcredits for renewing appeared in my account immediately, but I was expecting another 70 on top based on the info posted here that you get an extra 10 Qcredits for every 100 Qpoints earned after crossing the threshold for Platinum.
Has any one received the extra bonus Qcredits recently? or have any info of this is still a perk ?
I searched the T&C's but could only find one mention of it, introduced as a bonus offer but no mention of start/finish dates.

I got my bonus when my status was renewed. Sometimes it is delayed by a few days. If you don't get it use the WhatsApp Platinum text to initiate an investigation...like with anything at QR this may not produce anything!

My wife has been using Qcredits to upgrade on hops from DOH to UAE (F cabin) , but each time at check-in they tell her she cannot use the Al Safwa lounge (as it's an upgraded ticket).

Having said that she has still be able to access the Al Sawfa longe by simply entering via the airside entrance and had no issues.

Anyone know what the official policy on this is?

Is she a QRPC plat? If not, she shouldnt have access on an upgraded ticket. Why theres a discrepancy between check in and the lounge entrance is mystery to me.

Yep, technically no access then. Guess the AS lounge dragons were incorrectly allowing her access.

There is something more to this story...the lounge dragons don't get it wrong time after time. If this was correct the lounge would be a mad house...imagine gold being allowed in as well.

I am reviving this thread as I can't find any available seat for upgrade to business class (in advance of check-in) from EU to East Asia for 2026 using Qcredits. I would like to hear from you any advice you may have on how to search for U class / available seats in business class (non flexi). I come up with the impression that expert flyer does not include U class. Using the award flight finder of qatarairways.com is also very cumbersome.

Do you have any advice for me?

Yes, I understand that the most traditional way to use Qcredits is to upgrade at checkin at the airport but I would like to know if there are other possibilities to use my current 100 Qcredits...

Thanks!
