Multiple sectors Q Credits upgrade?

100 credits more than enough.
an example: SYD-DOH-HEL upgrade to J
SYD-DOH 39 qcredits
DOH-HEL 28 qcredfits
I keep on reading conflicting information on this, is there any official statement from QR on the possibility to upgrade multiple segments that are all under one PNR?

All segments will be treated as separate upgrades. The Qcalculator will show you the amount required in total:
https://www.qatarairways.com/en/Priv...alculator.html

The real frustration will be if one of the segments does not have availability and the others do.

sorry for the noob question but new to this:
What are the general changes for upgrades prior to departure with q-credits? Is upgrade availability - whether points or credits allocated to each flight?
Have many people generally had success prior to departure (thinking AKL- DOH and DOH-AKL) or it is usually at airport. I am not keen to roll the dice at airport so usually book J but this would be a massive benefit if availability is good given the cost of J from AKL currently.

Upgrade availability release a few weeks or days before departure is very unlikely to happen.
Upgrade at airport will more likely happen, provided there are still some seats available for sale in J. As they are first come first serve, arrive early at airport.

Is it possible to buy an economy ticket and organise the upgrade at the same time (with Qcredits) via phone with our friends in the Privilege customer service? Anyone has experience in doing so? I could be very flexible on the dates, I just would like not to lose the 100 Qcredits I have now...

Why? You do it online. Much easier. Also to do it on the phone you need to upgrade all sectors on the ticket, not just one; it is restrictive. In addition there is a fee to book on the phone and rates can be different than online (revenue and award tickets).

Do a dummy booking and see if there are award seats. Phone agent will do the same thing. If the seat is there at time of booking it's yours...either way mate. On the phone it costs more...online it's free. Same system.

Just to emphasise, these have to be regular classic award seats and not the double priced flexi awards.

Thanks to both for your kind replies.

As QR does not offer 24 hours full cancellation to all types of EU bought economy tickets there is always the issue of, for whatever reason, not to be able to upgrade after the purchase, hence my question.

Additionally, I wonder if, when the 24 free hour cancellation is stated in the fare conditions, this happens with no issues.

Thanks again for your help!

I have an upcoming flight BRU-DOH-BKK in J within 48 hours. I am interested to upgrade DOH-BKK to F with Qcredits, since those would expiry anyway.
The flight is sold out in J, with 4/8 availability in F.

Currently there is no upgrade availability so I assume I'll have to wait until the airport. Would they already be able to process the Qcredits upgrade in BRU or do I have to wait until I am in the AS lounge n DOH?

Upgrades are done on a per sector basis so you will need to do the doh Bkk sector at Doha. Hopefully there is enough time between your flights to process the upgrade. You might luck out and get an op up before you ask for an upgrade. Check the seat number on the app...it would automatically show your new seat if there is an opup.

As Kmct states it’s on sector basis . I have done this in DOH at lounge but had a 4 hour plus connection time they said they would not process upgrade request until 2 hrs before departure and I had to go back at t-2hrs where they had processed the upgrade and issued me with new BP . Obviously if flight is oversold you may be lucky with an op up - good luck and report back if you can

I was actually surprised that it could not be any easier to use Qcredits to upgrade at the airport in BKK. They knew immediately what I was talking about and it was done in about one Minute (some typing, a couple if questions if I really really really sure I do want to use my QC).
Why should it be any more difficult to upgrade the second sector in BRU? They can see and access the whole booking on their computer and should know what Qcredits are.
(all the time I was checking before there were no upgrades available online/ but free 1st class seats to book with cash)

It's not about being difficult that is just how QRs system is set up. You can't upgrade past Doha in BKK just like you can't upgrade past Doha from Brussels.
