Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

What fare class ticket do you have? I have an upcoming trip in R business and I tried to change a segment or two of my JFK-DOH-BKK-DOH-JFK initerary and they were having none of it unless I paid a hefty change fee, in addition to the fare difference. Albeit, I did only try US customer service and haven’t tried either their Doha office or any of their other global offices. (And not sure if I, as a US-based passenger, can use say the Australian office to make changes)

Seems to be the QR830/QR831 pair that gets it usually at the moment, this being QR there's plenty of scope for this to change, though. I'm not really sure what QR's strategy for premium cabins to BKK is currently, having invested a large amount in building a dedicated lounge as well as going through a period of flying their most modern equipment there, they've now reverted to sending multiple A330/A340 flights on most days.

Was looking for ARN-DOH-BKK v.v. for june/july this morning:
QR830 DOH-BKK and QR831 BKK-DOH both have B777 with lie flat seats, according to Google Flights.
However, Expedia.se shows seat-availability on seatmaps in advance and these are clearly B777s with Q-suites. At least according to Expedia, that is.

The two unconverted aircraft BBF and BBH have been on a regular rotation to Auckland.
Seems an odd date given the current rate of refurb. Must be doing a different aircraft refurb in between. Anyway I expected AKL-DOH to be the last of the 772LRs. I see both aircraft are still flying. Anyway booking for after June seems relatively safe but I'm keen to see one those last 2 go into the shop soon.

Strange. I have R Class as well.
Did you explicitly tell them you want to rebook because you lost the QSuites, which was why you booked QR in the first place?

I’m German, flying from Sweden, so I don’t have any relation to Australia either. I just called that office because it worked out best at that time of the day (European callcenters were closed) and there were no wait times (in contrast to their US callcenter).

What minimum time you can change it before a flight 24 hrs?

Their policy is as simple as it’s generous: You lose QSuites, you can rebook for free, no matter the booking class.
You can change both the date and the departure/arrival airport (within 500 miles).
For us this meant being able to change our I-class inbound flight from SIN-OSL to KUL-ARN one day later, where there only was D class availability. And we didn’t even get QSuites back that way, but we chose convenience over having to position back to SIN.
Had we booked that flight outright, it probably would have cost us several thousand dollars more.
But you can only rebook once, so make up your mind well.

SIN-DOH. That let us rebook to KUL-DOH-ARN in D class the following day for free (instead of SIN-DOH-OSL in R class).

Hmmm, interesting. So when I called the US callcenter I definitely didn’t mention I was trying to change because of the loss of qsuites and made up some excuse saying timing would be better for me and that there were multiple seats available on the itinerary I wanted. I figured if I was honest that’d cause them to absolutely not honor any change request seeing that qr is notorious for last minute equipment change and that those already less than jovial agents would simply laugh at me. Guess I was completely wrong lol. But now I’ll try my luck with the aussies and will also mention my dissapointment in loosing what would’ve been a qsuite segment. Thanks for the advice!
