Thanks
Why not just book reward flight saver tickets with BA? You would only lose £35 if you need to cancel.

Aircraft swap on Sake fare Brussels to Tokyo

Hello,

I got one of these Sake fare from Brussels to Tokyo in September.
I just noticed that the first segment aircraft was swapped from an A350 to an older A330 with 2x2 business class.

Do you think this qualifies as a schedule change (as it does on American for instance) and would allow me to rebook from another starting point for free (namely LHR)?

Appreciate your advice!

it doesn't unfortunately. With QR, anything under a 2 hour actual schedule change is seen as irrelevant.

Definitely not.

Would you mind letting us know what dates you're flying on, in case it's likely to affect any of the other ex-BRU flights?

Secretflyer101 welcome to the QR forum. You may find the QR dashboard an informative aid.

If your flight schedule changes by more than two hours then QR will assist you, free of charge, to find a shorter, more convenient journey. Shorter than two hours and nothing can be done. A change of equipment is not a change of schedule and there is nothing to be done about it.
For about two years the most frequent post on this forum has been something like 'Never book flights because of a particular aircraft type. You will probably be disappointed.'!

The swap is currently only for QR195/196 during the month of September:

Effective for the month of September 2017 only:
Doha – Brussels QR195/196 A330-200/300 replaces A350-900XWB (QR193/194 continues with A350 service)

Fingers crossed QR193/194 stays A350!

I have had a plane change from an A350 to an A330-200 on a BRU to DOH flight at the end of September. QR196.

That anyone is aware, is this still going to be a flat bed? Has anyone had any luck changing flights after a change in equipment?

The return DOH to BRU in October is currently still a 350 but is this likely to change?

I believe that that 350 may be going on the MIA route for September. After that, MIA reverts to its usual 77W.

An equipment change is not a good reason (to QR anyway) to change your flights. So you will have to pay the change fee and fare difference. I'm pretty sure they have lie-flat seats on the A330. While I prefer the privacy of the 787/A350 seats, I never had such a good sleep as on the A330, could be just me though

Anyway, I'm glad that my BRU flights still have the A350 scheduled.

It might continue though. While my BRU-DOH was quite full in J, DOH-BRU had around 10 free seats in C. If QR notices low yields on QR193/QR194, they may just revert back to planes with smaller C cabins and use the A350 on routes with more C demand.

I tried to make a new dummy booking for QR196 and the A330-200 description says "Wifi enabled". If I refer to the fleet thread on this forum this means new fully flat seats. (however note that seat maps on Seat Guru AND Qatar website do not seem to be updated for these new A330-200).
