I totally appreciate Qatar don't need to offer that - but as some people have managed it, I'd love to know how!

Just had my 4th unsuccessful call.
While this is not 'playing the system', it is getting very close to it, as it is a Gesture of Goodwill from QR.

As such, and because QR do lurk on Flyertalk, perhaps converse on the wording through Private Messages opposed to within this thread.

Thought I'd report back. I called back to change the outbound to LHR and at the same time enquired about changing the inbound - this person spoke to their supervisor (no blanket no) and they also agreed to change the return to LHR. Fairly happy with that and think excellent customer service from QR.

That's great news DodgeFlyer!

I must have called 10 times now. Been very polite each time with the UK and Doha call centre numbers and am told "no" every time.

Why can't I find the right person to help?

I just find this so funny that some of the members that has profited from this super sale trying to get as much as they want to from QR just to get them back to their home base.
It's fair to request for change of starting/ending point if that particular inbound/outbound was affected by time change, but to also request for the unaffected sectors to be changed for free is in my opinion just greed. [saving the 60-70Euro/Pound positioning flight and some additional time]

For those trying to dig more gold out of QR, please think about future super sale - they might base on past experience and unreasonable demand just from day 1 pull back these super sale issued tickets.

Cheers!

nldogbert thank you for your comments. they are much appreciated. It is about time the voice of reason was heard.

If you look at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28465268-post905.html you will see 'Just imagine that QR did as you suggest and broke their own ticketing rules in 'special cases' it would be the 'thin end of the wedge'. When this crisis is over QR would be inundated with similar requests. Comments such as 'You did it for A and for B so you should do it for me. I am also a special case' 'You have made exceptions before, you can do it again' etc. would abound'. The crisis is not yet over and it is already happening!

I think it's totally fine to try getting the flights changed. Such a change could very well be beneficial for both sides. After all, QR must have more limited capacities on the remaining AMS-DOH flights.
I do however agree that a sense of entitlement is inappropriate. Either you are lucky and it succeeds, or it doesn't and that's just that.

I agree to "try" is OK, but is 10x calling still a "try" For me a try is once, if it did not succeed for the portion that was not eligible (i.e > 2 hours change in schedule), than please don't ask for the sky, moon or stars...and if you not able to get it, apply the HUACA principle for such fares.
It already seems very generous of Qatar to not apply stricter rules to this particular ticket including situations where normal schedule changes can be applied and has been rather generous for those affected and even goes the extra step to allow the 500 miles radius change.
Please be sensible in dealing with this, a short term gain is a long term loss.

Cheers!

I'm now on the last day of my sake trip, looking out over a hot river spring, and about to enjoy a Japanese meal.

It's been wonderful to visit Japan again on such a good deal. Thank you Qatar Airways.

As a country Japan is certainly one of those that completely blew my mind when I went there for the first time in 2014. Have managed to go again since and my QR trip in September will be my third time so far.

Totally agree.

We would live to go back. Whenever we chat amongst friends they always say its one place they always wanted to visit but we actually did.

Would just need the QR service to keep us getting what we were used to lol

I'd really appreciate if any of you who have already visited Japan would share your experience by maybe offering just one highlight or pearl of wisdom to the below thread

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/japan/1815444-qr-week-end-hnd-nrt-travel-thread-2017-a.html

You're experience could be invaluable to those of us who are yet to make the trip.

Thank you in advance for sharing.

tennislover9 the noshow fees are a part of the fare rules and vary from origin to origin, ticket class to ticket class and from offer to offer and even from day to day so there are no standard fare rules. The fare rules for your reservation were sent to you as an attachment to your original booking confirmation and you need to examine them.

Brussels departures

Hello everyone

Been keeping tabs on this thread and also the new Q suite thread. Have we had any indication of changes to scheduled flights departing from Brussels in sept/Oct? I've held off from booking any positioning flights up until now and reading about the AMS changes makes me more inclined to hold off for longer.

Thanks
