SUB and MES have been on the planning books for a long time. However, given the current conditions the only true options for wide body long hauls will be to SE Asia, that is why these and others are coming to light and real quick.
Outside of LGW there is only one other Euro destination planned with a wide body to announce. No more Americas for the foreseeable future, nor Africa. But, There is still planned a new destination in the United States, but has not been announced for 2019 and most likely will not.

Oh prey tell what is the other eu destination planned , may want to jump on it if a good starting promotion comes with it. Do you know when LGW will start, my very first time on QR was when they used to fly from LGW before they shut up shop and reverted to all London operations from LHR . A good few years ago I hasten to add.

I'm not sure if Surabaya and Medan are mainstream enough to be easily recognised by most readers from their IATA codes.
Isn't the new Medan airport KNO ?

Just saw this the other day and SUB could be interesting. Another Oneworld presence there would be good and an alternative to CX or only being able to go to either CGK or DPS before an internal flight. Fingers crossed it happens and hopefully along with decent fares.

With the ME blockage, I am not sure if Indonesian destinations besides Jakarta and Bali works for QR. SUB might could support 2-3 weekly in today's climate, Medan and Manado are thin on the ice. Batam could be interesting as there are resorts and shopping facilities (i.e. infrastructure is there) and its approximate short distance to Singapore with frequent ferry service (market potential with clever marketing). Yet I think 2-3 weekly are very brave attempt. Glad to be prove wrong though!!
Not sure if you are suggesting Batam as an alternative entry point to Singapore, a destination in its own right or a generator of traffic.
Johor was for a time the regional low-cost entry point to Singapore, dedicated bus services offered by MH etc: but the Johorean advantage largely evaporated when SIN finally embraced LCC. Without the surface connections enjoyed by JHB, Batam airport's link to Singapore is awkward at best. As a destination it would not comfortably serve as an alternative for people visiting Singapore (other than from Indonesia), and in its own right it will probably continue as a quirky weekend destination for Singaporeans.
Of course the notion of the regional growth trianglecontinues, but I think Indonesia's role in it isn't likely to sustain intercontinental demand for air transport through a third airport.
