Joining the Qatar Airways’ route network, which spans more than 150 destinations on six continents around the world, are: Canberra, the airline’s fifth destination in Australia; Dublin, Ireland; Las Vegas, the airline’s 11th destination in the United States; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Santiago, Chile; Medan, Kualanamu International Airport, the airline’s third destination in Indonesia; and Tabuk and Yanbu, the 9th and 10th destinations in Saudi Arabia.

Would Auckland not have been announced in the last round of the destinations?
These new destinations, are new announcements opposed to places QR will absolutely fly to in 2017.
There is a difference, and I wouldn't get too excited until you see tickets on sale on the QR website.

I want to see ex-DUB start-of-the-route prices...
If they follow what they did with AMS, PSA and HEL, the thing will be very interesting

Sorry all, my skim of the press release was too skimpy and I did not see paragraph 2 "These newly-announced destinations join the already-announced list of new destinations to start in 2017: Auckland, New Zealand will start 5 February 2017, and will be the world’s longest commercial flight; Sarajevo, Bosnia; Skopje, Macedonia; Libreville, Gabon; Nice, France; Chiang Mai, the airline’s fourth destination in Thailand; and Douala, Cameroon."
zebranz I am not Aussie, I am something much worse. I am British but living in Denmark. "Mind your P's and Q's young man!"

In a press conference this arvo, Canberra Airport CEO Stephen Byron confirmed Qatar’s Canberra-Doha service will be “direct” (no Adelaide stopover) and tipped the flight will use "new generation aircraft, most likely the (Airbus) A350”.

Guess ATL would go 77W (yeah when they get more next year) and releases 77L to LAS?
GIG and SCL-tag would be 77W as well?
DUB with some older airbus 330s? Then we would see more current European destinations with 350s? MXP, FCO? or DUB gets 350 right away?
Where is my SFOOOOOO

I thought in airline parlance "direct" could include a stop eg DOH-ADL-CBR on same plane would be a "direct" flight. Did he say non-stop?
