READ BEFORE COMMENTING IF YOU ARE NEW,
Hamad International Airport (HIA) offers passengers a number of different lounges.
This thread, is specifically for the Al Safwa First Class Lounge. Information on the other Lounge options at HIA, can be found here.
Does Al Safwa have a web page?
Yes: http://www.qatarairways.com/global/e...-al-safwa.page
Dining Menu
https://www.qatarairways.com/content...-dining-en.pdf
Where can I find Al Safwa Lounge?
The Lounge is located on Level 3 of the airport.
Can I use the Qatar Airways Al Safwa Lounge?
Access is based on your underlying fare bucket. This means that upgraded tickets, maybe except upgrades with QPoints (see post 2735), are not granted access.
Access is thus restricted to Qatar Airways First Class, and OneWorld First Class passengers :
- either holding a First Class boarding pass* for their next flight
- or holding a First Class boarding pass from their previous flight.
Additionally, Privilege Club platinum club travelling on any business-class fare are welcomed into the lounge. This is a facility introduced recently and one that could just as easily disappear.
- Guests are not permitted.
* Operational Upgrades to First do not give access. Upgrades with Qpoints may do give acces (see post 2735 - Sept 2022)
Arrival access on mid and long haul? (eg. coming from LHR in F)
YES
Ex. CAI-DOH-HEL
Arrival access regional F? (eg. coming from CAI in F)
Yes.
Caveat, if your underlying J fare is P, then the no lounge access for business light kicks in. And there is no access.
Privilege Club Platinum members are currently allowed in the lounge when travelling on any QR business-class fare: that could change. Other Oneworld Emerald members are directed to the Platinum lounge(s) when travelling in any class, and the Al Mourjan lounge when travelling on relevant business-class fares. Yup, it gets complicated.
What does the lounge look like?
Reports on the Lounge, can be found here and here. Photographs of the lounge, can be found here.
Is there a Spa?
Yes, there is a full Spa, but you will have to pay for treatments. A full list of treatments available can be found here
What about the sleeping rooms?
Stargold in http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28199729-post1177.html suggests that access to sleeping rooms is as follows:
'* No reservations allowed - always first-come first-served
* Only available if the remaining time until the flight departure is more than 4 hours
* Passengers are allowed maximum six hours' usage - for any further usage, a fee of QAR 450 is payable for a second block of six hours.
* No F&B of any kind except bottled water in the sleeping rooms.'
What changes can I expect during Ramadan?
Ramadan affects QR and you in many ways so please look at ramadan to see how you are affected.

I saw this too. I wasn't aware that the access to Al Mourjan and Al Safwa is now open to all passengers...for a fee. I checked QR app out of curiousity. I have an upcoming flight on J and saw that the rate for Al Mourjan is USD124, although it was marked as "Included" on my reservation. I did not see anything about Al Safwa though.

For reference, Lufthansa is offering its first-class lounges (and, I'm guessing, the first-class terminal) for EUR200, but with restrictive caveats regarding class of travel and FFP membership.
The Lufthansa facility is nowhere near as "spectacular" as al Safwa, but it is far more solid and professional.

"15% off lounges
Enjoy up to 15% off access to Qatar Airways' Al Mourjan Business Lounge, Premium Arrivals Lounge and Al Safwa First Lounge at Hamad International Airport.
Purchase your access online through 'My Trips' after you have completed your booking, or through any Qatar Airways sales office, contact centre, or your travel agent."

Bolded by me from Qatar Airways website.
They are now selling access to Al Safwa? Times must be getting harder. First the Krug went now First Class loses exclusivity.

LH is selling access to the MUC FCL Lounges, which you can also enter one of them using a centurion card, and the FRA B FCL lounge. The FCT is unfortunately excluded.
It's a matter of opinion but I'll take LH FCL & FCT lounges any day over AS. I think the f&b are definitively not on the same scale.

impeymac it is now obvious that it was an error and it has been corrected on most pages where it occurs. I say most because all the pages I have looked at have changed but there may still be one or two pages out there with the incorrect text.
So no you are looking at the right ad but after the mistake has been corrected.

Absolutely - food, beverage and service are all well beyond the Doha offer. Al Safwa does throw in a measure of grandeur, space and museum exhibits, rather than rubber ducks, but I still think Lufthansa wins hands down.
I just wanted to avoid potentially inflammatory comments

lehovec no mistake! You are flying in J on QR so you have access to the premium Al Mourjan business lounge. Because of that you also use the lesser First Class and Business class lounge. You do not have access to the premium Al Safwa lounge which is reserved for QR and OW F passengers only.
There is a huge quality gap between the Premium Al Safwa and Al Mourjan lounges and the other lounges.
If you want to see the access rules for the various lounges look at the Wiki on the QR dashboard widget QR Lounges at HIA

Not sure if this should be in the Great Krug Thread or here, but they are currently serving Pommery Louise 2002 in Al Safwa, which I prefer over La Grande Dame I had in here on my last visit in October, despite it sharing the name of my ex! It’s still not Krug though!
I did discover that they have some limited volume wines off-list and not displayed, including a recent German Riesling spatlese and an off dry, even slightly madeirised Alsatian 2008 Gerwurz both of which are great complements to spicy food. That Alsace wine is, in particular, something I never expected to see in an airline lounge. The waiter at the bar was also particularly knowledgeable about the wines, he was not scripted, he clearly knew his stuff and enjoyed wine for his own pleasure, I was impressed.
