It's a long but shot does anyone know the input code in the Qantas system to allow the QC service desk to change a QFF number to an AA number for one sector only of a flight?
I have taken to leaving my QF number in my reservation (since WP gets me seating preferences) and then proceeding to the QC and asking them to change the FF allocation to my AA number but only for the sector I am about to fly (allows WP seat assignment to remain active for future sectors).
At least half the time I have asked for this to be done the staff at the service desk struggle with it (esp BNE and ASP). I figure if I could get the entry code written down I could give it to them each time and avoid standing at the desk for 10 minutes each time holding up the queue and wasting valuable bar time.
I'll try and remember the next time I hit an agent who knows how to do it to get them to write it down but since I'm next at BNE I expect the same problem then.
(Would also appreciate the code that gives me an op-up and the ability to earn FF on both AA and QF for the same flight as well as a QF username and passsword if you happen to also have these....
)
Actually as an interesting point the desk agent at PER this week said "WOW you're the 3rd person in the club this morning to ask for me to change to AA FF number", and BNE lady said I was the second there that day. So the mass exodus is really starting to hit if this is the case. Can I infer that once loyal QF fliers (ie club members SG,WP or paid)) are taking advantage of their status with QF now (for seating) but accruing to AA. Surely QF and AA are going to start talking about this?

I don't know exactly how it is enterred but the concept is simple: enter just the FF number transaction and it changes all sectors (including past ones already flown that haven't yet been processed for some reason), or add a suffix to the same transaction to change a single sector only. So it is something like xxxxxx/1 where /1 is the sector number (i.e. /4 for the 4th sector). This use of the suffix is what confuses the agents and most of the time results in either no change or too much change. Maybe this will be enough to jog the agent's memory or get you the correct info elsewhere.

Interesting thought......
I tried that when the TA was attempting to get D seats released (Oz domestic no less) by QF in the process of issuing my current RTW.... Eventually cleared but with no regards to status as Mrs WF ticket (NB QF)
c leared first.
My process in the USA with AA as I attempt to maintain the right to "semi-elite" service (PS) at the QFF call-in desk will be to leave my AA number in the reservations and then simply ask for the FF number to be removed for a specific segment. Keep the boarding pass w/o a number and fax with ticket copy to the QF desk for credit. Only have to deal with two A class flights (albeit with connections I don't want credited to QF) so hopefully that will work. And if there is a mistake - both segments will be blank - not credited to the wrong account. To QFF's credit they seem to post this way a lot faster than AA so it may not work effectively the other way round. Shame QF have so seriously devlaued their program benefits.
YMMV

I too now make reservations without any FF number. Then I phone QF to find out the fare bucket (since it is not always obvious) and ask them to put in my AA (or sometimes even QF) frequent flyer number in the reservation.
The problem I am now having is that my AA FF number after this does not appear in QFs my booking or www.checkmytrip.com. Last trip I phoned QF 3 times. At the start of the conservation the agent said the AA number was not in the reservation but that he/she had now added it (same conversation 3 times). At check in was not there. In Syd a few weeks ago the check-in agent could not add it (did not know how) but had to get some else to do it.
It would be better if the QF online booking engine allowed any Oneworld frequent flyer number to added at the time of booking.
Next trip will try the "book with QF FF (for WP seating preference) but accruing to AA by changing in the QC" method

I need to pull this trick in two weeks time when my (soon to be) wife and I take off on our honeymoon. It has me worried though as we are on a LONE4 and have added 2 flights MEL-PER, PER-SYD to finish our trip in Feb. next year and upgraded them to J using QF FF points. I can see trouble on the horizon already as this is what www.checkmytrip.com shows:
Traveler: MRSAUSSIE, BRONZED
Frequent flyer: Qantas Airways - QF2052xxx
Frequent flyer: British Airways - QF2052xxx
Frequent flyer: British Airways - AA6X44xxx
Frequent flyer: Qantas Airways - AA6X44xxx
Traveler 2: MRAUSSIE, BRONZED
Frequent flyer: British Airways - AA5X81xxx
Frequent flyer: Qantas Airways - AA5X81xxx
Frequent flyer: Qantas Airways - QF2321xxx
Frequent flyer: British Airways - QF2321xxx
Is this going to screw up our joint AA lack of challenge and will changing the segments in QP throw out or upgrades MEL-PER, PER-SYD if they mistakenly change the FF numbers for the whole trip ?

If you want to credit all flights to the lack-of-challenge then get the QF FF numbers out of the booking; it is the safest way to do it. Your upgraded sectors will almost certainly not automatically credit to AA due to being in U class.
If you are looking to credit some flights to AA and others to QF, I would suggest just removing all FF numbers and just applying for credit afterwards as appropriate

I recently did the AAPlat challenge, and had a booking with both QFF and AA numbers in the booking, thanks to my travel agent.
Every flight boarding pass printed with the QFF number - But all checkin staff were happy to change the number to AA and all flights posted correctly and automatically.
So, I think the key is to check it AT CHECKIN and get it changed - Even if it doesn't post automatically, it should be easy to get it posted if your AA number is on it.
I changed the FF number after my SYD-LAX upgrade had been processed, and my MEL-PER was an ODU at the QP - Which they were happy to process even though my BP had an AA number on it. (Using my QFF number obviously)

Over to the more knowledgeable people on this subject (as most know that I am illiterate when it comes to computers

Here's the code from the QF agent at the QC. I hit the same lady in BNE yesterday on my way home as on my way out and she said she had spent an hour or more with her supervisors working this out following my request.
So, in answer to my original question (and defintely to that one only as it appears that Sabre etc is a different format, thanks for the link Globaliser), here's the code the QF computer likes for changing one sector to an AA number:
"SRFQTVQFHK/-AA#######/S#/P#"
She made a note that you must sector and pax relate.
Hope this is useful to some, it sure will be for me.

And now to add how to do it through the AA system using Sabre...
I am currently in MIA AC and have a 2 segment booking (AA MIA/SFO and AS SFO/SEA). My QFF number was in the booking (because of the AA MIA/SFO sector being in A class). I knew that I wouldn''t get credit for mileage or SC's for the AS sector, so I asked her whether my AA FF number could replace my QF one for that sector only.
She showed me the keystrokes under Sabre (I went around to her side of the desk to see what she was typing, she actually asked me around to show me what she was doing). She advised me the operation is called "segment select".
1. Access the record locator and then type FF*. It will show each segment (sector) on a separate line with the FF details held against each sector.
2. Enter FFFPnnnnn/x, where FPnnnnn is the FF program and number, while x is the segment number you want to change.
3. Refreshing the FF* screen will then show the new FF details against each sector. It showed my AA FF number on segment 2, whilst my QF one remained under segment 1.
The only sideline comment is that she couldn't print out the new BP as she can't re-print AS BP (even though it's already on AA BP stock). So I just have to go to an AS ticket counter in SFO (or the Gate) and have it re-printed there.
Many thanks to Maritza, one of the two friendly Reception CSA's (the other is Carol). No Lounge dragons here

AA codeshare's with AS should get QFF points and SC's. (As long as the booking code is in the AA schedule)
There isnt any restrictions on the Airline Earning Table
in regards to AA codeshares, like other airlines.

Just booked the THB7,430 (A$250) 60-SC BKK-SIN trip. Little box asking for your OneWorld FF number (can select any of the airlines)
Within 20min book showed up in the MyBookings section on the Qantas homepage (along with the rest of the trip booked on QF FF points)
