And now to add how to do it through the AA system using Sabre...

I am currently in MIA AC and have a 2 segment booking (AA MIA/SFO and AS SFO/SEA). My QFF number was in the booking (because of the AA MIA/SFO sector being in A class). I knew that I wouldn''t get credit for mileage or SC's for the AS sector, so I asked her whether my AA FF number could replace my QF one for that sector only.

She showed me the keystrokes under Sabre (I went around to her side of the desk to see what she was typing, she actually asked me around to show me what she was doing). She advised me the operation is called "segment select".

1. Access the record locator and then type FF*. It will show each segment (sector) on a separate line with the FF details held against each sector.
2. Enter FFFPnnnnn/x, where FPnnnnn is the FF program and number, while x is the segment number you want to change.
3. Refreshing the FF* screen will then show the new FF details against each sector. It showed my AA FF number on segment 2, whilst my QF one remained under segment 1.

The only sideline comment is that she couldn't print out the new BP as she can't re-print AS BP (even though it's already on AA BP stock). So I just have to go to an AS ticket counter in SFO (or the Gate) and have it re-printed there.

Many thanks to Maritza, one of the two friendly Reception CSA's (the other is Carol). No Lounge dragons here
